We get plenty of snow in Virginia... well, not as much as up 'Nawth... but it certainly is no foreign object, and I know how disgusting and ugly snow can be when it becomes slush and then glaciers. But we got mostly ice storms. And if it's going to be cold, it might as well do something! And I hate ice! So... ha.

My sister's family lived in Virginia when my brother-in-law was in the Navy. I always joke that the people there start sliding off the road long before the first snowflake even touches the ground. It's like they spot a single snowflake at five miles above the earth and everyone goes nuts.

Sorry, Ms. Southern Belle. I know that snow is a foreign substance to you, so it's a romantic sort of thing. As a veteran of nearly 40 New England winters, I can assure you that the novelty wears off, in a hurry. You'll learn that "snow is beautiful" for about 5 minutes, after it has fallen. When all the plows and sand trucks come by, it looks like massive mounds of fecal matter, and isn't too pleasant to look at Funny how you never come across someone from Minnesota talking about how "beautiful" snow is

I lived in northern Pennsylvania for most of my life and then here in central Indiana for most of my life...

Snow pisses me off.

It is because you get everyone's share of it. We have teachers that go bezurk when it starts to snow! We get so little of it everything shuts down. Teachers here wear snow jewelry and have mugs with snowflakes on them on days they hope we get snow. Pretty funny, they are worse than the kids!

Actually, here in central Indiana, it's not that bad. We generally get 20 inches or less even though the temps are comparable to other northern states. We got nearly 50 inches one year a few years ago and that was a lot for us. That being said, growing up in PA, that would be about only a month's worth of snow.

NOBODY in the south is allowed to talk about snow, because even if in the odd chance you do get some snow, it melts in a hurry. Around these parts, once the first snowfall comes (which could happen any day now), you're pretty much looking at piles of white shit until about May, because it never gets warm enough for it all to melt! After about the age of 12, snow serves ZERO useful purpose. Dave summed up my thoughts on snow...It pisses me off!

I distinctly smelled snow in the air this morning.
Flurries were mentioned on the news.
Winter is here and its not even Halloween yet. What the frick!

Ah, I am enlightened! It's stealth-rain that isn't very stealthy.
About once a year here in Adelaide everyone gets terribly excited about the 'snow' in the hills. You can see real bits of stuff! To about a foot off the ground even! Next winter, I'll call the TV stations and demand that they report on the flurries on Mt Lofty instead.
