CR has a good voice, no shame. Yeah some of his songs are sappy but what is OA and Faithfully if not sappy.

I like Paul Young who's I'd consider similar to Richard.

Paul Young - Come Back And Stay

I'll quit there, this isn't the sappy song thread.

So you're saying that's a good band that went away too soon? LOL, don't think so. That's about as RICK ROLL as you can get without Rick. :)

I'm leaning more towards this:

HSAS - Missing You

HSAS - Through The Fire

Your brother has great taste in music. Myles may dodge a couple of the real high vocals on the old stuff, but he still sounds great. :)

Well, that's debatable.

I do like April Wine, Tesla, Autograph and Rainbow that are 4 out of his 5 favorites. Deep Purple is his #1 favorite of all.
I like some of Deep Purples stuff. Especially their Slaves and Masters album with Joe Lynn Turner on lead vocals. But I'm not a fan of Ian Gillan by any stretch of the imagination.

My brothers favorite band used to be Journey back in the early 1980's, but then he stopped listening to them, and really doesn't care for them much anymore. In fact he says that he often finds Steve Perry's singing to be annoying. He likes a lot of other stuff that I think sucks, and he claims that a lot of stuff I listen to is nothing special.

As glad as I am to see MSB mentioned, they actually made a lot of albums.
......................................................................................................................................................................................

By the way, "My Town" is a song that Michael Stanley wrote about Cleveland.

I see were they started in the mid 70's. I'm surprised they didn't have a few more mainstream hits once they got on MTV but it looks like they closed up shop around 1987.

Yes, MSB broke up in the late 1980's. But Michael Stanley still makes albums to this day with a couple of other bands that he started. He's a local DJ here in Cleveland too.

I have a British Rock magazine that their one issue was largely dedicated to AOR/Melodic Rock bands, it had Journey, Survivor, Foreigner and Heart on the cover. Anyway, that magazine named what they considered to be the ten best albums ever made that people may not know of, and MSB's "You Can't Fight Fashion" album made that top 10 list.

Like I mentioned, he does love April Wine and Tesla. But he does, like I also mentioned, think that Steve Perry's singing is sometimes annoying. And I don't think he particularly cares for JSS's singing all that much? Although he never really said anything bad about it either. Whereas I do like Tesla also, I somewhat prefer Eric Martin's singing to that of Jeff Keith. and where I think he does kind of like Eric Martin's singing, he prefers Jeff Keith's.

He listens to some good stuff, and also to some crap at times.

Enjoy! I thought they were all around 60 like Myles?! Holy cow......he can still play like that at almost 70! :o Actually, I was quite impressed with Myles' guitar playing too when I saw them earlier this year, I never paid attention to stuff like that years ago.

Yeah, we use to watch MTV religiously. All of these songs were on there. Great times back then.

Oh man...I did had some good times in those days but that music had to rank amongst the worst of all time...worse than disco. I started to think I was a homophobe and if I was, it was the music that drove me there.

Nothing wrong with being homophobic, you are not alone. Some people are afraid of heights, some of spiders, some of circus midgets, the list is endless.
