Incorrect. Soto didn't sing that song. Deen sang it when Soto was in the band.

"Open Arms" is a great song! I like Barry just fine with his own hits, 'tho. Wonder why he chose this song over his own especially on t.v.?!

According to Jeff's website there is a video of him doing Open Arms with Journey in Manchester 2007, but I can't do youtube at work to confirm it is him singing it.

Jeff sang all of the ballads in Buffalo, NY when Deen was sick. He was capable of singing the ballads even though some think he was not.

There is NOTHING remotely "great" about "Open Arms". That song has always been the epitome of pop music gone VERY wrong! Calling it sappy and soul-less would be an affront to songs that were truly sappy and soul-less!

Ok...I finally actually listened to it and it wasn't that bad. In fact, he sang it with ease. Makes you wonder why others can't.

The botox plastic-mask-under-the-skin look is still terrifying though!
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Yeah, he can't move his face too much, but I thought his singing wasd ok. Granted, the only version I've ever liked was Arnel's slight variation from the original in Chile. He took the contrived wuss factor out of it.

The only good thing to do with Open Arms is the cartoon flick Heavy Metal where the guy bangs the chic and later vaporizes her in the taxi when she tries to rob him.

I thought he was the pinch hitter for the whole 2006 season before they designated him for assignment.

Whatever makes you happy  It was more than one time by the way. I just happened to see him that time and wondered why he wasn't always doing the ballads, because he was great.

He sang it because it's one of the covers on his new album.

I was watching in HD and I learned a lot more about his face than I wanted to. He looked great back in January from the 8th row but I guess once you get closer it's another story.

That performance sounded fine. He definitely Manilowed it up, with the big finish.

He sang it with ease because he sings it an octave or two lower. I could sing it in that range.

Barry is 65 years old. Does anyone think a 60 year old Perry can sing it better?
