So the guy singing on the Lovin' You clip is Jason Kelty but there is a question if it's him on the other clips? If Jason Kelty is singing on Lovin' You, then a double   . He sounds better than Arnel to me. Didn't Journey vet Jason Kelty at one time? Can't keep my rumors straight, lol.

It's Jason on the myspace songs. Simply email the group to find out who's singing. He's lost some of the upper range for sure.

Listened to the clips on myspace. That cant be him... No way. I have seen him countless times and it sounds nothing like him at all. None of the same inflections and the vowel sounds are different. Did someone email the group and get a reply that this was Jason singing ? If so I am fucking floored that someones voice could change that much..

I wont believe that unless I see it myself. I talked to the guy on the phone about 8 months ago or so and his speaking voice sat higher in register than the guy singing those clips which sounds like a baritone pushing to be a tenor.

Check this out.

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =428103679

It is a link to a Journey tribute band called Escape from the same town in Ohio where Jason lives that is under constrution. No picks, no info but they are friends with this Eclipse tribute that Jason is in.. hmmm

Looks like it was just set up. Wonder if Jason is getting out the tails again.. Considering the popularity of Journey now would be a good time...

If only some Kelty clips would have been on youtube when Neal was searching. Who knows.

I saw Escape with Jason years ago. He was simply awesome. Scary Perry IMO. So much like him that everyone in the crowd was transfixed.

Having said that, Arnel is one heck of a find!

You're a poet and just don't know it! Sorry...I HAD to do it. I agree though...Kelty is the ultimate Journey tribute singer!

I'm not sure Journey would have touched Kelty. For one, he's too much like Perry, and also seems to flip flop on what he wants to do. What do I know though? If they had auditioned him, they may have all fallen to their knees in worship.

I'm glad they have who they have and can't wait to see what they do next.

Maybe in 1996....In 2007, not so sure. Again, I'd reserve wetting my pants for any post millennial recordings of the guy.

As tribute bands go, Escape did a great job musically behind Kelty. Jeremey may have point too. These clips were mostly mid 90's and 10+ years on his voice could make things different.

No matter what, Kelty was a ringer for Perry back then.

Oh no of course not. Im saying it sounded better live. Kelty would do these great ad-libs and as a band they were a treat to see. Just great muscians every last one. On a few of those tracks Kelty it playing backup guitars while singing.

Okay, let me get this straight. The opening clips posted by LD and LovingYou... are Jason Kelty singing (from 10 yrs ago). But the myspace links of current tribute bands are not?

Does anyone know what he is doing now? You guys have brought him up from time to time. I would say he has the most succinct SP singing voice I have ever heard.

You are correct. I have no idea what he is doing now but I will say that it looks like he is in this band.. THere are two outstanding individuals in this band, George Mcgrew used to play for 2112 (a rush tribute) and sounded EXACTLY like Geddy so Journey and Rush fans are gonna want to check out these guys if they can...

Directly from their MySpace page: "On Lead Vocals and Guitar is our newest member, Jason Kelty. Jason was "Steve Perry" in Escape throughout the 1990's, and will amaze you, not only with his Journey, but with his other vocals as well. Originally a drummer, Jason also plays keys as well as guitar. For those of you who haven't seen us lately, you owe it to yourselves to come and check out the new show with our full line-up."

I think I'm gonna make the road trip to Ohio and catch their shows on December 12th and 13th. Prog, are you anywhere near Akron? Anyone else?

Thanks, Rick. I am almost 100% confirmed for these 2 shows. Tito may be going as well. Gonna try and scoop up Behshad as well. He's right on the way. Liquid Drummer, can you make these shows?
