Do fan messageboards of other bands get clogged up with endless threads about cover versions? Or is this unique to Journey?

We need a karaoke forum, right below the Eric Martin and Kip Winger forums.

Former members of Journey get and will get shit loads of pages in this forum when they buy new shoes or go to a public toilet and you two are complaining about a couple of threads for a *current member* of Journey actually singing? Do bear in mind that we are part of this community whether you like it or not. As members of this online community, we are entitled to post whatever we please until Andrew or T-Bone revoke those rights.

Post what you like. I was just momentarily curious why we have a daily diet of 25 You Tube clips of Journey covers...not just from the current hack on the payroll...but almost every AOR singer and countless numbers of You Tube punters too. The band already have a reputation for inspiring bad karoake in the bars across the country so maybe there's just something about these songs that compels people to perform them. Ironic really given that almost no-one can actually pull these songs off....

You guys can post whatever you like. We can also dog on it if we like. Those former members were responsible for over 50 million album and selling out football stadiums with crowds up to 100,000. But most importantly, they contributed to the song writing and creating melodies of the songs that would make Journey famous. We've been with this band and bought their product for over 25 years. If you want to show some teenager from the province singing someone elses hits, go for it. No one's stopping you, so don't worry if we criticize it. Fair is fair.
In all honesty, most of us are just taking the piss, when making half of these posts anyway.
Oh, and we're not going anywhere either, so relax and enjoy.

I am not even talking about Perry. If he can give his male fans hard ons and make them want to insert an aubergine up their ass then he must truly be a gifted performer and a great man. However, that is off-topic as we are not talking about a member's contribution to the band. My point is that there are former members of the band who get pages and pages of thread in this journey forum. I am not complaining, as they rightfully deserve a spot here. However, to suggest that clips of a current Journey member be relegated to another forum because he is singing a cover song is just not right. Arnel deserves a thread in a Journey forum whether he is performing with Journey or just picking his nose.
