Why thank you, Rick. :)

I never had a lesson.
I sang in my room to Steve Perry and Ella Fitzgerald albums and I worked out how to breathe and how to phrase in a way that suited my voice. His range is way too high for me - as you can hear from my Smooth stuff. I have a low range.
I haven't sung rock for some time. Been doing the jazzy type stuff and 80's hits like Eurythmics etc in our show for a while now.
I think Journey songs are really better left in the key in which they were created - and I don't have the depth of tone on the high notes that I have on the low, so I know my limits and stick to them.
Maybe I should revisit some rockier stuff.
I feel like a change.

:D

You're welcome ma'am. ;) I always appreciate people who can sing or play an instrument. As important as music is to me if I had any talent at all, I'd probably be doing one or the other. Since that's not the case, I find myself living vicariously through others. Would love to see you jamming live.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

We would like to get some of the show filmed profesionally, but we are broke at the moment and these things cost a fortune. What am I saying, EVERYTHING costs a fortune in the U.K.

When the money starts to come in again we shall look into getting it filmed and the sound recorded. One day...........

:)

And everyone has a talent for something, Rick. Everyone. 8)

It's far from perfect. Steve Perry is perfect. But I really appreciate the sentiment thankyou - and all of your comments are really helping to boost confidence for the audition this week.

Let me tell you, being canned by your existing Agent does nothing for your self esteem.

But, maybe it was time to move on.
And I'm not bitter.

I would love to see you tackle "Into the west" or "May it be". Especially "May it be", as it is usually sang in the higher range by Enya and Lisa Kelly. I would like to hear you do it in that smokey voice style.

I'm not familiar with these songs. So I just had a brief listen on you tube.
It would never have occurred to me to try either song. I'm not sure I could do that style.

Never heard of Lisa Kelly either - lovely voice. Very ethereal. I had to listen to that one right to the end.
Strangely enough I've been looking for some Enya type music for a Birthday gift for my cousin. He loves Enya but already has all her Cd's.
Maybe I should investigate Lisa Kelly's stuff.
I think she may be just his cup of tea!

Yeah, I'm a nut for that Lord Of the rings type music. Lennox won an Acdamy award as a co-writer on "Into the west". I am smitten with Lisa though.

I knew Annie had won the oscar but I didn't really take much notice of the music.
I expect you like Evanesence, too then? Or are they too 'heavy' and 'goth?'
I've been looking for this present for my cousin and I heard 'My Immortal' by them on a tv show so I thought they might be the solution, but on further listening I discovered they were more goth than ethereal like Enya, so I don't think they would be the right choice.
I will check out Lisa Kelly, thanks.

This cousin likes Tangerine Dream, Kate Bush, Enya and [I cannot bring myself to type this name because I really do not like her voice.....but....here goes....] Katie Melua.

Evanescence is cool, it's like if I crossed Enya with Linkin Park. Katie Melua is not doing it for me, alot like Sarah Mclachlan. I want the nice clear vocals of Chloe Agnew or Hayley Westenra.

Speaking of Kate Bush earlier, here is Hayley's version of Wuthering Heights.

Believe me I wasn't going to make that comparison (Pat Rules). I'm talking more the style of music these singers sing. The ethereal sound that Susie was talking about.

Sweet and Simple.. Hear why he will never be replaced.
That voice, that song !! I don't just hear it , I feel it; to be moved to a place like that, a peaceful calm just ripples thru my soul. It's like he's singing my life in this song. 8)
Got some tools to increase vocal levels in songs and remove effects. The backing music sounds weird but the vox are right in your face with no effects. As close as you will get to hearing him all alone.. More to come.. And dont download unless you own it as most of us on here should or be shot.

SHes mine to come for comparison to early and deeper voiced perry.[/quote

Beautiful. The man had a beautiful voice. I cannot wait to hear how beautiful it is now. I don't care if he doesn't ever hit the high notes like that again. He has a beautiful voice regardless of the range. :D

Well howdy-hoo and GOOD MORNING....

What a LOVELY way to wake up.
Love the incidental "flange effect" on the backing music.

MAN that vocal is "Desert Dry".....try listening to "She's Mine" on 'phones.
It sent shivers down my spine. Literally.

Thanks so much for this!! :D :D :D

F**king brilliant.

What a talent Mr Perry has.

Thanks for this LD.

I just clicked the smoothduo myspace link. You're a great singer Susie.

Me and '78 have been saying that forever. :D

As Steve Perry always says..."I owe you money!"

And I always did say Gunbot speaks wise words. 8)

Speaking of Kate Bush earlier, here is Hayley's version of Wuthering Heights.

Sorry Bro! Not close to Pat! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlTRlIOAXak

Believe me I wasn't going to make that comparison (Pat Rules). I'm talking more the style of music these singers sing. The ethereal sound that Susie was talking about.
Here's the same girl doing Scarborough Fair.

Ahh, got ya! That was really Beautiful! Now I know why you're into the Celtic thing!

I love the Irish singer Andrea Corr and The Corrs , which includes her sisters.
