I'd like to hear him sing anything again.

When you see threads such as "Steve Perry sang something last week" or "Steve Perry hummed something yesterday", you know this guy is a living legacy. Not too many chart-topping singers just fall off the map (unless they're Michael Jackson). Steve Perry is 60 now, so he's got maybe 5-10 years left of being able to put out a record that would sell. We all know his range is probaby shot, but he could still sing something soulful and melodic.

I'd love to hear SMFP doing some down-and-dirty blues!
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

He would be amazing doing an R&B/Soul album - I could see him covering a lot of Sam Cooke songs.

This is probably going to sound retarded, but I could see him doing modern R&B or soul. I.e. Chris Brown or Rhianna or whatever the hell her name is.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

Well, it was mentioned by the guy whose doing work for SP... (studio mixer? ... in an earlier thread discussion) that SP is into modern music. So you could be right, Gideon.

 SMFP singing "I don't see nothin' wrong with a little bump & grind...." two words PANTY DROPPER!!!

That's what I've always thought was missing from SP, a serious panty dropper. He seems to have made a conserted effort to stay away from his obvious appeal to the ladies. :?

I think SP would bring a classic vibe to modern R&B - more of the feeling and depth it used to have. What I hear now seems overproduced or "slick" and seems to have lost its raw edge.

I don't have a problem with current R&B being too "slick". My problem is that it has gotten too graphic. And it really has lost the depth and emotion it used to have. How many songs can you have about body parts and licking people???

Yes, without a doubt! Perry should of done little number years ago IMO. Remember when he was on a radio station some years ago, and he sang a few lines from that song, he totally could nail that tune. That's a song, I feel Perry sings in the shower, in the car, you name it, he knows it back to front.

I think so too and I just love this song. Didn't he sing it onstage once with Jon Bon Jovi? I seem to remember someone posted a YouTube clip not that long ago.

Ides of March - Vehicle.

Actually, I'd settle for anything, anything at all.

...and while we're at it, could I request that he "re-work" that confusing "It Won't Be You" tune. The instrumental is WONDERFUL. It's so lush, so sensuous, so gorgeous, it makes you want to log some serious sofa time in front of the fireplace with your honey. Then he goes and spoils the whole mood with those droopy, pissy, moany lyrics...AAARGH!!!

I know this song has been covered by alot of people, but I would love to hear him sing "When A Man Loves A Woman" I think he could do it so much better than anyone else.
