Yep, I know what you mean, Captured helped me capture a girl once. SHe climbed in the car, just as Captured was starting. I turn to the girl and whisper "Boinsoir montreal" to her just as Perry is shouting it out to the crowd at the start of track one.

The girl asked me what does that mean. "Well I said, boinsoir is good evening in French and Montreal is French for beautiful angel which is what you are (har har har)
And she fell for it, laughs and says aw youre sweet. Not the sharpest girl ,(but I could only win over the dumb ones). I preceded to drive to Lovers lookout point, got out a six pack of beer, gave her five of em saying "Gee I can only drink one of these cos Im driving and I want to keep you safe miss Montreal.
By track six we were cuddling to "Too Late" Seconds later I was hammerin down the Dixie Hishway if you know what I mean.

Thanks Perry !

The question is... what track did you finish your jog down the highway? :D

Of course , I hung in there until fittingly "The Party's Over" in more ways than one :D

Journey got some great hits from Cain but I have always felt that they would have bigger and better hits with Rollie. Hard to say as Perry is magic singing the ballads and there might have been fewer with Rollie.

It is a great Live CD, however, it's not a recording of one show. I believe there was 3; Detroit, Montreal and maybe Atlanta, not sure on that one.

Tokyo not Atlanta. The majority was recorded over 4 nights at Cobo Arena in Detroit.

I don't think so. I love so much of the Rolie period, but Cain brought some great songs to the mix writing with Perry and Schon and their songwriting was better on a general basis and was a better mix together songwriting as they matured, though many of my favorites are during Rolie's time with the band..

I have had enough of their "maturing." How many fucking candle light, wedding photograph, first dance" bullshit lyrics can one cheesedick put out? My God, does he have some rolodex of cheese lyrics he goes to in a pinch..."hold on guys, one sec..let's see, "dinner for two in a shady moonlight breezeway?" naw, how about, "Kiss me now and we'll dance later upon the open stage" or some shit like that. Cain sucks.

I think his writing w/Perry for TBF (even though I hated the production) was some of his best work. But much of his stuff since then has lost it's depth, and been replaced with tissues and Hallmark cards. And if that's maturity, I don't want to see old age.

I was really relating to the Perry years when I said that, comparing the Perry years with Rolie and then with Cain in regards to the level of success they would have had if Rolie stayed on compared to Cain beginning from Escape to TBF.

to me captured is journey at its highest peak.i like escape and its a good album but i much prefer rollie at the keys and miss stuff like feeling this way, just the same way, someday soon, etc. the band still had some toughness with rollie aboard but once cain joined it seemed like they pushed neal to the background and it became the perry/cain show.

CAPTURED!

I can still remember that I am always stealing this album from my Uncle's Journey collection.

But now I have my own copy and I won't let any of my relatives borrow it from me.

Departure and Infinity are my favorites right now. Escape doesn't hold my interest b/c I've heard those songs over and over for too long.

Watch the Tokyo boot of the Departure show. Neal just goes to town on some of those songs. At least 20 minutes of the show is just Neal wailing
without anyone else taking the spotlight. Once Cain came on board, we're now treated to him doing enema shots on the keyboard. I'm sorry, you will never look as cool playing keys waxing as a guy does slaying with the axe. it just ain't happening Jon.
Jon Bon Jovi needs to write for Journey. get some fun lyrics about racing around , drinking beer and popping cherries in the backseat. When it comes to more songs from Cain however, I'm surprised Hallmark hasn't sued for plagiarism yet.

The Storm features Rolie's hand at writing mainstream rock and it sucked. Loved the albums, but the lyrics were largely embarrassing. Cain gave us "Open Arms" and "Faithfully", he's much better as a lyricist than Rolie. Even Herbert, who hates his guts, recognizes that he brought a lot to the band. More than Rolie, in my opinion.

The tools are there for Journey to rock. They may just be one songwriter away from becoming a real killer rock band once again.

The ballads need to go sleep with the fishes.

I used to think they should shitcan Ross and hijack Jack Blades. (he's a bassist, right?)

But I listen to the lyrics pre-Cain and cringe. Perry's great contribution to the Journey world was "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'; Cain's was "Faithfully." That sealed the deal for me as to which one was more important to the writing process (aside from Perry's efforts on FtLoSM, which also sucked [lyrically] despite a veritable army of co-writers).

But nothing from Journey touches TBF in the writing department, in my opinion.

There you go trying t to tinker with the formula again. 8) Those sappy ballads and mid-tempo semi-rockers have been Journey's bread & butter over the years. Why try to do a 180 at this stage of the game?

When I've watched the Japan concert, he sounds as fantastic live singing I'm Cryin' as he did on the CD, which on that song is absolutely remarkable.
