Thanks Jeremey for the link to the additional news article talking about this performance. In part this article adds:
Perry is bringing his own five-piece band and will perform Journey hits and other music. He's scheduled for two, one-hour sets.
AND
He plans to return to the recording studio in January.

It's funny I was just listening to TBF today on the way to work thinking what a shame his voice hasn't been heard live for 14 years and 12 years or so recorded material.
Gunbot wrote:Honestly, I think it's a one and done show that's all. It was fun to speculate but it's not like the guy is broke and hitting the road like every old time band trying to get pay back for all the years of abuse from evil record labels.
However, if there is video recording equipment at this gig, I would look for a Best Buy or Target exclusive release of Steve Perry performs the music of Journey with live DVD packin.

Tickets are $28 general admission, $60 VIP and go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday. Purchase tickets through GrooveTickets.com, or at the Pipeline Cafe box office, Hawaii's Natural High or call 877-71-GROOVE.
"It is a total rarity to see Steve Perry in a show like this," said Greg Azus, Pipeline Cafe. "It's going to be an intimate, one-time experience for Hawai'i fans. As great as Arnel Pineda is with the new Journey, there's nothing like the original Steve Perry."
Azus said Perry is coming to Hawai'i for a private performance and added the Pipeline Café show because he wanted to give a live performance.
Perry is bringing his own five-piece band and will perform Journey hits and other music. He's scheduled for two one-hour sets.
With Perry as the lead singer, Journey became one of the top U.S. arena rock bands of the '80s with his hits like "Don't Stop Believin'," "Who's Crying Now," "Open Arms," "Separate Ways" and "Faithfully."
Perry underwent successful hip replacement surgery in 1998 to correct the problem he had been diagnosed with two years earlier.
He plans to return to the recording studio in January.

I wonder if there is such a thing as vocal cord juicing, like a once off thing to restore someone's voice for a couple hours?
