"Trial By Fire"???
That gets you hyped? Puts me to nappy time.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

For me its gotta be "Ask the Lonely". Has a sweeping guitar part, strong vocals, and its just a really strong rock song...lots of energy to that song. I also really like "Be Good to Yourself", thats an energy filled song too, especially live!

Love "Only the Young" too, great guitar part.

No question 4 me, a non-Journey tune from his first major band. The song is Harmony. Give it a listen. Come on Steve, release your comeback CD already.

I don't know why but I think that song just kicks ass and is totally underrated. It was the first time I heard Journey use a 5-string bass (I think that's Jackson on bass, but I can't remember the friggin' liner notes, just remember that huge dude with the eraser haircut playing that in Seattle in 86- Yo Dog- just play the bass and don't try to speak DUDE), and Neal's rhythm guitar also has a big, punchy sound that I hadn't heard on a Journey song before. TPerry's lyrics paying homage to songs from the 50s and early 60s also rock. The song just kicks my ass every time I hear it.

Carry on with your day now...

Yeah, I like that sound as well. I love the guitar sound on Be Good to Yourself too. Finally it had some balls. I like the ballsy sound on Arrival on All The Things as well, Van Halen like guitar sound.

Mine is ESCAPE as well but I gotta tell you. If you never heard the old lineup of FRONTIERS doing "Stone in Love" then breaking into Escape, you truely missed something. I hate that they don't do it now.

That song is pure sex - except for the unfortunate bridge, which is more 'your parents bearing milk and cookies just walked in on you about to get down and dirty with it'. Love that song.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

You cannot tell me that Escape is a sonically better album. The depth of the drums on ROR, the bass, everything SOUNDS so much bigger. Wish Escape had use those production techniques.

I totally agree - ROR sounds especially impressive when played loud on a good hi fi with big speakers - and also Escape does sound compressed - but the vinyl version sounds fantastic - much bigger - but then, i still prefer vinyl in some ways............

The Time.

That is the one I generally have the knee-jerk reaction to grab the volume dial and turn it up when it comes on.
The new rockers like FITH, TPIYH, NWA, Wilderst Dream, WDILYL?....
