Comparing this to Journey, it seems Lou wasn't quite the financial guru that Perry was and Mick may have had a little better business sense than Neal. Like Herbie said:

"....I think he dislikes them every bit as much as they dislike him. But they're just not that smart. I love Neal Schon like a son, but he's just never been the sharpest knife in the drawer"

Melissa, don't take Stevew2's offer of an interview as only a just a joke although its what he intended.

He may be Jonathan "Friga" Cain's biggest "or most deranged" fan.

Has him in Hello Kitty getup. Puts him in dresses. LOL and even wore a pink shirt with Friga on it to a concert.

Should make for an interesting read.

As for Gramm, thanks for the additional info. Some insightful info in both the interview and your views of Gramm.

As suggested above, keep us posted when you do more music related interviews. I missed the DeYoung one. If not too much trouble, please post a link for it. Welcome to MR by the way.

Until his sickness, I doubt Gramm was ever hurting for dollars. If he walked away from getting credit on arguably their biggest hit, he must've been doing ok. I'm sure he gets some nice royalty checks.

He came across very down to earth in this interview. Muscle cars, burgers and pop at the local car rally. Sounds like fun.

I love Lou and he has always reminded me of Neal, nose to the grind, driving around with a wife beater on, drinking Pabst Blue Label. A regular blue collar guy.

Mick and Perry on the other hand always seemed swarmy to me, a little too confident in themselves, the cogs always in motion.

But out of all of them, Neal is the only one that stayed with Herbie in that company they founded which I guess is worth a lot of money to Neal. Herbie said the others were fools for getting out. Neal said he coud retire in an interview. His problem is his five million divorces and alimony and child support.

Hello everyone,

I am the editor-in-chief of "Our Prattville" the magazine that Melissa Parker owns.

It seems to me that some folks are comparing apples and oranges here as far as this copyright deal goes. I will not try and take any moral high ground. Lets just keep it to the facts as we know them. In the USA Mrs Parker's copyright was indeed violated.

I did indeed see her Dennis DeYoung interview on here also:

http://forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=4297652&highlight=prattville#4297652

Notice in that thread that she even answers at the bottom knowing that her entire interview has been posted. She let it slide.

So after seeing this interview being posted on here she thought that all of her subsequent interviews were going to be posted and tried to stop it before it continued.

Unlike the music industry, writers that are net only and have their sites open to the public like hers are most likely advertiser driven.
Where as the argument can be made that musicians can recoup lost music revenue via concerts etc...
In other words it is the way she makes a living and continues to bring forth these fine interviews for all of us to view and bitch over.

So if people co-op here interviews no one visits her site and she does not make the money she is entitled to and she closes shop.

The article is her intellectual property and she is entitled to fair use regardless of how we feel, that is the law.

OK, as I wrap this up, I will say that Melissa did not have to come here and share these interviews in the first place. Most of you would have not known these items she wrote about. She never asked us for a dime to read them. And Stone Cold even got here to go into detail in the first-person about the interview experience which was cool SC. I will say that she does not intend on coming back to the forums again. That does make me a little sad.

Just something to think about...

Melissa has interviewed people from all walks of life from TV and movie stars to rock legends and works very hard preparing and transcribing them. If you have never done one you just could not believe the amount of work that goes into the process.

Here are a couple of other rock star interviews of hers you guys might like to read:

John Ford Coley of England Dan & John Ford Coley (RIP Dan):

Marc, thanks for posting.

Sometimes folks read MR from public or firewalled (work) computers which block access so we've gotten used to helping each other out.

Since its become common place, that's why the withdrawal request got some negative reactions as it reads a bit heavy handed. I understood its her property and revenue source so looked past it. Especially since I was the cause of the problem. :)

I hope she'll change her mind and join us again. Her Gramm interview was a great read and it sounds like Lou had a good time with it.

If the DeYoung interview is still up on MR, a PM to the quoter would work just as well to remove it and replace with a link.

I am a lot more laid back than Mel but that is beside the point :D

Trust me Maui Tome I do not take myself seriously dude..that's why I was not making any kind of moral stance, just stating the facts... LOL!

It's all good!

But it is Melissa's way of making a living so I can see her point however...

But enough of that I have had my say...

We're cool Stone Cold, no worries...

Look into the future, I'm gonna leave you now...

Sorry had to do that seeing this IS a Journey forum :)

Get Melissa to do a Springsteen or Perry interview. Or Mick Jones LOL. That's about all that would top the Gramm one.

I am trying to get her to do one with Mick. That may be delayed until the new Foreigner record is released, maybe late this year...who knows!

By then it might be "Too Late."

Sorry I had to do the Foreigner reference... :)

I would really love to hear his replies to what Lou told Melissa... That could be something for sure...

Take Care SC

Ha ha...can't help it you have no taste NIG

As for posting the article/interview from Mr. DeYoung it was me. I posted the link and then posted the interview below it. It was never my intention to omit information. Perhaps I wrongly assumed that since I had posted the link to the article I had covered everything. I fully respect the amount of work that goes into all aspects of doing these interviews, I hope Melissa has continued success.

Peace to all

4 or 5 hits, whew!! Poor TS

By the way Tommy Shaw is from our hometown of Montgomery, AL.

Melissa went to both Jr High & High School with Tommy. He is in her year books.

She has told me stories about Tommy playing at her school proms.

Anyway I digress...

The DeYoiung audio was priceless though, if you guys get a chance sometime give it a listen. Dennis is much more entertaining when ya listen to him... :D

The audio player is located right before the print interview begins...

Sorry Melissa for the trouble. but thanks for the great interview.

Copyright is a copyright-she owns-you don't-you can't reprint without permission-deal with it. it's the law. it takes just a few words and a coupla clicks to do it the right way.

it is wouldn't be ok for anyone to walk into your house and take a cd just cuz you really like it and you want to share it with your friends. stealing is stealing. deal with it--don't do it if you don't like being reprimanded. and she is not obligated to be nice. she is the victim. and I am sure that you didn't have any malicious intent, SC. thanks for bringing it here for us.

artists are the only ones it seems that have no right to their own property. wtfluff.

on a side note, there is a lot of explanation in the liner notes of the new Foreigner cd. and no, I am not going to reprint it. go buy it and read it and don't repost it--without permission.

insomnia ranting. pardon.
