Thanks a bunch, everyone, he's hanging in there.

They're just finishing up another surgery. They repaired his diaphragm, which was in really bad shape, and removed his spleen.

I'm just getting tidbits of information from text messages and status updates from Facebook.

I sure appreciate the prayers and support, and I'll certainly keep everyone posted the minute I hear any news.

He is in the best of hands, as Parkland Hospital is a superior trauma unit.

Please extend your prayers to my friend. The next 24 hours are very crucial.

Jerry is doing better today. They have him on a paralytic, which is a medication that induces paralysis, a ventilator, and are going to put a halo on him because of the extent of the fracture in his skull.

Every rib on his left side was broken, and some broken in several places. I stated previously that he did, but he did NOT have a punctured lung, miraculously. Many of his internal organs were bleeding, which have now stopped, and he has good kidney function and his intestinal tract is intact.

As I said, he's doing better, but not out of the woods just yet.

The story as I understand it is, he was driving north on the service road at DFW Airport. He was approaching the intersection of the South Employee parking lot, heading to the North Employee parking lot. His light was red, but could see that the east/west traffic light had turned yellow so he didn't slow down as he knew that by the time he was upon the intersection his light would be green. And it was. A South Employee parking lot bus ran through the newly turned red light and hit his 4X4 Silverado right in the drivers door. He had to be cut out of his truck.

His family from Arizona and his fiance from Iowa, were rushed here by American Airlines, who is also paying for their hotel rooms.

I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Wow Rick that's such good news! How fortunate that he had access to the Level 1 Trauma Center. It is absolutely amazing what physicians can do today. Last year there was a 16 year old girl who got bitten by what turned out to be a rabid bat and she contracted rabies. It was too late for the shots. At that time, there was no cure for rabies and was always fatal. Her physicians at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin tried some experimental treatments with her and she is the first person to have survived rabies. Since they put her into an induce coma for some time, she required a period of rehab, but she is a normal teenager today. :D
