I've got to disagree here. I went to see Journey with JSS and I'm just not keen on the macho, 'Bring it on' style of front man. Journey's music isn't like that and I really didn't dig him in Journey at all. Ive been to see Journey with Arnel twice and have to say that he has developed a stage personality that you can warm to on a personal level.
I always thought Freddie Mercury had it 100% perfect though; a mix of macho, in your face along with the smiley and cheky side makes a perfect stage persona. Arnell and SP are very small built men and play(ed) on the innocent part of their character very well.
I didn't feel that JSS's personality came through on stage, which to me is a big part of a front man.
I have posted in another Topic that I was at Le Bataclan in Paris when they perfromed with Arnel a few weeks ago, and I mean it, it was the best gig I have been to in my life. I went to see them again this year and I really do think we have a classic lineup mark 2 here, I mean that...
The whole sound of the band has more energy on records than they ever had with Augeri, and even later Perry stuff. The live performances are amazing, and on a last note, Deen Castronovo is the Man! This could be one classic rock band that could really end on a high, many (including myself) would say after the stupid choices that have made over the last 11 years that they don't deserve it, but they have a lot to thank Arnel AND deen for....
