Nope. It was published. Jeremey clearly had to give the financial information to the reporter, and since he did and it was published, we can talk about it all we want. It would be different if the reporter did some digging behind Jeremey's back.

WHY did he "clearly" have to give that information? :?

Well, I agree with you... It isn't some yellow rag magazine either. Jeremey put his blog up and wrote his entire version of the story on it; this is what he said to the Washington Post.

Not 'had to' as in obligated, 'had to' as in the past tense action. He has to be okay with the financial information being out there, since he spoke it to a reporter. Whose job it is to report and publish.

Agreed, it's published now and can be talked about. My question is is that salary information something that should have been made public to start with. But whatever.....

Who knows. If the band denied ever extending an offer to me, and made me look like I was pumping myself up, or flat out lying, I'm sorry, I'd have shown anyone who cared to see the documentation. I'm sure whatever NDA he would have signed has expired, or doesn't apply since he never signed a contract.

So maybe there was. And maybe Jeremy felt what he said was okay to say given the circumstances, or that it had expired. I seriously doubt he's going to provide information that could put him in legal jeopardy.

He said in that interview he was pretty angry the offer was pulled from him at the last minute and he would accept an offer b/c of the financial security and other times he has said he turned them down b/c of putting family first. Which is it?

Was the offer pulled because Neal found Pineda and had a sudden change of heart? If so, I can see why the offer was pulled and there must not have been any contract, which is a smart on the part of the band, since you never know how a singer is going to work out, especially on the road, so best to have a probationary period anyway. That said, I think Jeremey is a good singer, but a Perry Parrot, which is what tribute bands do anyway, so no problem there. I'm sure once Neal discovered Arnel he knew they would immediately pick up more international fans. I don't think this move requires any justification...it just made good business sense. #1 - I didn't sign shit. This was the job offer that was made to me. (RE the NDA)

#2 - Journey has made me look like a liar and a fool for denying they ever made me a job offer

#3 - Sometimes the only way to try to prove things is to be as specific as possible. What difference does it make what they offered me? Really? Lora? GI Jim? Anyone? Did I say that's what they offered Pineda? I have no clue....That's just what they offered me.

#4 - At this point, I don't care who believes me or not. Big deal. FWIW I didn't know that the financial side of the conversation was "on the record."

Sometimes he parrots, but that's not all he does and he does have a more masculin voice with ability to sing soaring tenor. Anyone who thinks Pineda is strictly a Perry Parrot needs to clean the wax out of their ears. Perry never even did the same moves as AP on stage.

I would think in an interview that you must assume everything is on the record unless you specifically request and the interviewer agrees otherwise. That would be job one of coveriing your own ass.

I have been very clear. The band, specifically Neal, said they wanted to put the offer on hold. I had good reason to believe there was some not-cool bullshit behind it, plus I thought it was really unprofessional to make an offer then retract it. So I told them to go look for someone else. After having put my family through incredible bullshit and waving hundreds of thousands of dollars under my nose, then pulling back, if that's the kind of thing you want to look up to in a band or a business, then more power to you. I've never wavered on this.

A parrot? Dude, what is Pineda but a parrot with an accent. International fans? Journey is playing the same size venues in Europe that they played with Augeri and JSS. Where did they play in Japan earlier this year? Gymnasiums, just like their first shows with Augeri, Ten years ago.
Journey is hitting the same venues they always have. The only difference is their singer now dashes out of the country when ever he's not touring with them and has a penchant for getting sick every two weeks.when he is on tour.

Whatever, we can agree or disagree, but there is no arguing that without a contract, Journey management was free to make whatever choice they made. I feel they made the right choice and calling a spade a spade, AP is the better talent and a more powerful singer. I'm fine with my choice and you don't have to agree so all is cool. 8)

Egg head, and Pineda is not a parrot? come on now, man up

They both look awkward as hell on. stage Arnel is a more masculine parrot sound,is that better numbnuts?

That ain't masculinity, that's just vocal cords slowly starting to shred.

I went back thru some of his old YouTubes and if his voice is vocal cords are starting to shred they've been doing it for a long time. Sometimes I feel you and others are perched like vultures waiting for something to die.

Only when people start talking about masculine parrots. The masculinity card is getting played as much as the emotion card lately.

You forgot point #5 wich was the only point I even mentioned in this thread (with the exception asking "Why" did you have to post the financial info).... Wig.

Jim, if you are ever interviewed, what you may find is that you can talk for 5 minutes about something and then the writer will pare that down into a sentence or two. That excerpt was from a conversation we were having about bands that put on costumes etc being more about theatre and playing a role than I'm comfortable. I did not say I'd never done that. I believe my quote in context was an off the cuff remark about rather focusing on the music than playing a role or a character.

Can I remind everyone that Jeremey didn't post this interview here. For people to tell him what he should have or shouldn't have said is assinine. If the band says he never signed a formal agreement, then they don't need to worry about what he says or doesn't say as he's not their employee. What's he going to do, give away their trade secrets on how to trawl youtube for replacement singers. Give me a fucking break.

Steveo, you're losing it with the more masculine voice bit. Perry may have had a higher voice the first couple of years definitely, but all of his songs from then on - Faithfully - Still They Ride - Don't Stop Believing - Only the Young - After the Fall - Edge of the Blade - Ask the Lonely - Send Her My Love - on and on and on is a beautiful masculine tenor voice, and I loved Arnel b/c he can put his voice in that tenor range and sound like the songs, though for the most part not quite as good but still fantastic live, and if I had my druthers that's how he would sing it now, not tuned down, and all new songs in that same range also. It's not that big of a deal b/c I enjoy him with the band and the songs still sound great, not much difference and his voice is still great. But come on, maybe he can do more with his voice rougher, but my favorite vocal sound is in the classic song range like Only the Young. But if he could consistently and not hurt his voice Neal and company, believe me, would rather it be not tuned down on new or old songs and I would rather his voice soar higher like the songs originally and even on new songs. And how are you to know Jeremy is just a parrot? He like Arnel would sound as close to possible on the old songs. He wouldn't parrot on new music. It's his voice, which happens to sound more like Perry, but he would put his spin on new music, same as Arnel.

P.S. Why I love Arnel's voice is the power he has in it, especially for live performances, not b/c his voice is more masculine  . Perry had the same fullness and power in his voice while being a tenor, which few do, and it's why I love Arnel b/c he can go into that tenor range but give a powerful delivery.

True. While Jeremey didn't post this here, it is a good lesson that whever gets said get's repeated. Trying to unsay something once said is like trying to unscramble an egg and when anyone posts anything anyone has ever said, you can see what happens......this shit.
