He was there because he deserved to be. But I think the only reason he wrestled over the idea for so long was because he couldn't face them. Realizing it was a public ceremony and he could just smile and wave, give his speech and get out of there without answering any difficult questions, he ultimately decided to go. Look at Behind The Music. All other bands have sat in the same room together and discussed what went wrong, whether they hated each other or not. But not Journey! Perry demanded total control, would not be on camera with any band members or Herbie there to refute anything he said, and basically turned it into "Behind The Beak...Why Steve Perry Is A Misunderstood Asshole That Never Felt Like Part Of The Band And Once Re-entered The Earth's Atmosphere Without Heat Tiles."
I spit coke all over my keyboard. Thanks for the laugh. That made my entire day.

As much as I hate to admit it, you are correct!
"as long as they have to carry DSB as their banner, it looks like Perry will be right there with them as an overseer, ready to wield his veto power on all things Classic Journey." As quoted by Don on 12/7/2010

If Brian Johnson is retiring after this tour, they're certainly doing a good job of getting the most they can out of him. They just added some more U.S. dates, including a date an hour and a half away from me in Louisville. Trying to decide if I should shell out the $91.50 to see the band in case they do retire after the Black Ice Tour...

Thoughts from people who have seen the tour already?

DO IT!! I saw one of the first shows on the tour last year. You won't regret it even though Brian Johnson is a bit worse for wear and Angus should not be running around without a shirt. :?

I'm amazed they are still out there and holding up with this really long worldwide tour.
