I don't think the re-records have the depth of the originals. They sound "thin" to me.

From what Paul Stanley has said, the new cd will have that 70's sound you speak of

I'll believe it when I hear it. They originally said Psycho Circus was the new Destroyer...Psycho Circus save for a couple tracks was terrible. It's all spin. They're not going to come out and say "Our new album sucks" because no one will buy it. I do like that they haven't mentioned "Destroyer" comparison's with this new album though and instead have mentioned "Rock and Roll Over" and "Love Gun" as comparisons. Still I'm skeptical about it because who knows how much input Gene had with his Hollywood ventures involved. You've got Tommy Thayer attempting to sound like Ace while wearing his Ace Frehley pajamas, Paul can't sing anywhere like he used to (just listen to the re-records), and who knows what they're going to allow Eric Singer to do. If they're going to have him attempt to sound like Pete it's gonna be a rough record.

Interesting. There was a recent episode of 'Family Jewels' that showed Gene, Tommy, & Eric in an LA studio. This was probably filmed months ago. They showed a piece of some song digitally on a computer screen, and Eric was telling the guy at the console that it sounded "too thin & papery". Maybe it was a re-recording....????

Btw, I think it's interesting that we never see Paul Stanley on that show.

That scene on GSFJ was filmed while KISS was recording the old tracks.

Paul has stated that he can't stand "reality t.v." and does not want to be on GSFJ. Gene has asked him to appear on the
show many times and Paul has declined.

The only time Paul "appeared" on GSFJ was for all of eight seconds when he and Gene appeared as KISS (no Tommy, no Eric) on eMpTyVee, in the episode where Gene was stuck in his hotel room because his Demon gear was "missing" (all staged for the show, of course). But yeah, Paul won't come on the show.

As reported exclusively by BraveWords.com on August 2nd, KISS manager Doc McGhee has confirmed to Classic Rock magazine that the band's new album will be titled Sonic Boom, and that it will be released exclusively through Wal-Mart stores in the US as part of a package including a disc of re-recorded KISS classics (already available in Japan) and a live DVD.

Due on October 6th, Sonic Boom features the following tracklisting:

'Modern Day Delilah',
'Russian Roulette',
'Never Enough',
'Yes I Know (Nobody's Perfect)',
'Stand',
'Hot & Cold',
'All The Glory',
'Danger Us',
'I'm An Animal',
'When Lightning Strikes',
'Say Yah'.

Commented Classic Rock's Geoff Barton: "KISS promised to deliver a back-to-their-roots album and that's exactly what we've got. Recorded in the old-fashioned, analog way, it sounds spectacularly good - no ProTools nonsense in evidence here.

"The interesting thing is, it's not simply a homage the band's first few albums. There are even nods to records such as [1982's] Creatures Of The Night, which had Vinnie Vincent on guitar. KISS seem to have cleverly combined the best of all their eras into a single winning package."

Driving home last night I heard something I never thought I'd hear again. A NEW Kiss song on the radio!

I was very skeptical about this record, but it looks like (from the sound of these samples) they've delivered on their promise. Though Simmons ("...this is our best album in thirty years") is on crack if he thinks this album is superior to CREATURES or LICK IT UP.

One of my favorite Kiss ballads....I *love* this song...and I think the original shits all over this one....frustrating....

Paul's one of my favorite singers....frustrating to hear such a great ballad ruined...

If this one is anything close to Rock and Roll Over/Creatures/Revenge then I'll be very happy.
