well, that's splitting hairs, imho. who cares whether it's 10 or 11 retreads.

The fact that they included an entire disc of poorly re-recorded tracks that do nothing but showcase arnels inferiority to the master that originally recorded them....just to limp across the platinum line and claim he's the x-factor.....was cheating. No way around it.

To be honest, I think I've heard maybe BGTYS retread all the way through... the rest I couldn't even stomach because I couldn't believe how awful the production was

Me. I need to nitpick. I cramp up if I don't. It's a pretty serious condition that presently, there is no known cure for.

Thanks. Let's find a cure!!

Even Journey ripped off Journey!! I still maintain that those ridiculous re-records were the 2nd dumbest thing that band ever did behind letting go of Steve Smith.

I am going to say the third dumbest.....you can fill in the blank on the first one __________.

Umm.. bringing back SP for Trial by fire??

Always wanted to hear Journey do Dan Fogelberg's 'Power of Gold', or Nicolette Larson's 'Lotta Love'. Just to name a couple. Several others I've thought about too. But I'm not sure I ever want to see a Journey album full of covers. I consider Journey to be kind of an enigma - just keep going as long as they want and always put out new stuff. I don't care how repititious their signature sound might seem, always record only new stuff. And then some day, we'll realize that it all quietly faded away.

Now then, in the mean time, maybe there could be a 'Schon & Cain' covers album. I think that'd be a nice little obscure collectors item. Do it kinda like that Hall & Oates 'Soul' album a few yrs back. But don't go acoustic or pop, rock it up and/or deep groove it. Throw some heavy funk if they want. There's gotta be tons of songs over the years that NS has thought about redoing. Hell, if nothing else rebuild 'Girl from Ipanema'. (He & DC doodled with it on tv last week.)

MOST of the songs "Journey" plays are "cover" songs.

Think about it...

New music. Who doesn't like that?

But if they're gonna include a "bonus" disc as they often do now, I'd rather they cover something other than themselves.

Some excellent tracks are covers.
