Probably a bit of both. Neal isn't 35 anymore and when he sat down and thought about what this is going to entail, relative to the amount of faces he'll see, I bet he scaled it back.

It wouldn't surprise me if most of the casual Journey fans would have no idea who Neal Schon is outside of Journey. So that would leave ticket sales to the hardcore fans and that might be spreading things a bit thin.

Kinda ballsless, Luke toured all around the United States, including here. Had the humility to show up at a tiny ass little intimate bar. I sat close enough at a little table to step on his guitar pedals if I wanted to. It was great.

I can guarantee he'd draw a great crowd here. The Cleveland MR scene is VERY good. Frontiers sells out all the time here, Luke packed this tiny place I spoke of to the gills etc... let alone when bands like Journey and Lippard come through.

Neal's been on the road non-stop since he was 16, man. And considering he's coming off back to back 75 date tours (the latter one being a true worldwide tour), writing and recording a new album, and gearing up for a monstrous 2011, I'll give him a pass with just the California dates.

I won't. He should have considered that before scheduling stuff. Grow a pair if you're gonna go solo.

I won't either. FuFu is not amused.

I have plane tickets. It was St. Patrick's Day in a downtown Denver bar; he would have had a crowd even if people didn't know who the crap was playing.

Linda, just pretend you're a Steve Perry fan and this will be pretty easy to swallow. All kidding aside, though, I'm sorry that you got shafted. :( Neal's gonna hear about it from you I'm sure. And Mimi, too!

Obviously. Pretty easy to see that don't you think? Like Matt said, he scheduled Salt Lake City and Denver. He is used to a long bus ride, and could have done it. I know they weren't flying, no way does he spend that kind of jack.

You are one helluva spin doctor dude! Seriously, I admire your admiration for the guy, but even Ray Charles can see through this bag of bullshit. :) What does Schon always say? I love playing live. Well then dude, keep your dates.

Bingo. Like FU said, St Patty's day, any band will enjoy a sell out. Neal dropped the ball on this. Not very professional.

Many people wouldn't know him without the Journey title. I don't know why it didn't say The Neal Schon Band (guitarist for Journey) on there to help with recognition with a new band like this.

More will know him than you think, trust me. He's been around and mentioned enough for people to fill the place up, considering the size of the places he was playing. Sure, he's not a household name like Eddie Van Halen or even a chump like Slash, but don't sell his name recognition short either. Not that including Journey in some form on the bill would hurt, mind you...

True. I just never meet anybody that knows the names of Journey members. Some barely remember Perry's name, but most do, and then asking what happened to him,and them. Except many have heard the youtube hype story by now. Though, I did meet an attorney the other day who said his college roommate from college, who he's still friends with, lives and breathes Journey and has followed them all these years still and is a major Neal Schon fan and is over the moon about Arnel. Really, the first time, beyond a couple of co-workers, that I've run into anyone who knows Journey members' names other than Perry.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Neal has much household name recognition at all. I'm just saying that among musicians/guitar community and hardcore Journey fans in each city, he will definitely fill venues.

did not know of Steve Perry/Journey ...not a single person old enough to know what a song is!!! Some of these same

I said MOST do know Steve Perry and only SOME barely remember his name. I've had some say when I talk of Journey, what's that singer's name again, and when I say Steve Perry, they say, oh, yeah, that's right, and asked what happened to him. They knew his name years ago, but just couldn't remember it of the top off their head b/c he's been gone, not that they've never known his name. I've rarely had anybody know Neal Schon's name.
