I doubt Arnel would ever threaten Journey management. If he quits, his work visa gets canceled, then what? Dude is not known for anything except being the third singer to replace Perry. He is not Charice, no one outside the Filipino community is going to support him if he's not in Journey. I don't believe Pineda said these things and if he did, it was a foolish thing to do. Neal and Jon are financially set whether Arnel is there or not. As long as the original recordings are on the radio, in the movies and on TV shows, they get paid.

He is PAID to be an ass. Someone has to be the bad guy when the group needs their space. The things I have read about him (here on this site) paint the picture that he does go overboard but he is obviously doing the job the band paid him to do or he would be long gone.

Remember when Arnel was at a show (Some kind of meet and greet) and the people were all over him, touching him pressing their kids up to him and we were talking about here saying why doesn't someone step in and do something? That's where JT probably would have to step in and of course it would piss off fans who are used to Pineda being overly obliging and maybe even Arnel himself but as soon a some one gets hurt or sick, the shoe will be on the other foot and everyone will be asking where the hell security was. There was the incident in Ireland where the lady didn't want to let go of his hand and another one where a fan walked up on stage. Bad things can and do happen. Once someone gets hurt, it's to late to rectify the problem then.

I, for one, believe there is some truth to the story. JT has been an incredible asshole in the past, but most of the time he does do his job. And, like Gunbot said, that job is to be the "bad guy" ... the guy that will say and do what the band wants to, but doesn't because they wanna steer clear of the dirty work. JT's job is tough and, while I don't envy what he has to do one bit, I can say two things: 1) He does, at times, a great job of looking out for the band members' interests at all costs, and 2) he can be a giant prick that is rude and insulting to women and other fans and does not have the ability to use any sort of discretion in regards to just how much "attitude/tough guy" is needed. He just flies off the fucking handle at times when it's really not necessary.

I don't doubt for one fucking second that Arnel said he'd pack his shit and leave if this is what happened. In fact, I'd bet just about anything that he did say that. I'm pretty sure I know you "Y" is ... considering Arnel's assistant's name starts with a "Y." Personally, I've met "Y" twice (assuming we're talking about the same person) and he was incredibly gracious and kind.

Personally, I think Journey is either completely unaware of some of the shit this guy does or allows him to get away with far too much. He's done some incredibly ignorant shit. On the other hand, they have a security dude that has a mohawk (at least in 2008 he did) and the guy does his job well.
