Ross may be the most irrelevant member in the history of ANY band. Could put the "Watson" Jeopardy computer in there or a department store mannequin and nobody would notice!

Well bass is important, the bass player doesn't have to be the rock star or the charisma machine. Like Bill Wyman, just stand there and lay down the foundation and lock in with the drums. Sure, there's better bass players but I like Ross.

When I think of Ross' playing, I think of Topaz and Cookie Duster. And in my book, that's some pretty great stuff. I'm more interested in, and locked in to istening to guitar and vocals, so am not hearing the reason for others' discontent.

Fuck what these morons say. Steve Smith had/has a lot of respect for Ross and that trumps what anyone here has to say. Ross has set the tempo for 35+ years now and Smitty and Deen have driven it. I have never had a problem with Valory's playing. With "voices" like Perry, Pineda and that of Schon's guitar, you just want to create a killer tempo along with the drummer, and Ross has always done that. Has his playing been less creative over the past few albums? Sure. But so has everyone's. But I expect this album will be different ... vastly different.
