You can't escape ROR, it and Street Talk have songs that get played in supermarkets every freakin' day.

True ...somebody, besides me, must like that stuff!!
I concur ...you know, NKOTB is still played heavily!!S2M wrote:First of all, the true test of a song, album, artist - is not how many tickets they sell TODAY, or how many albums they sell TODAY. Daughtry's first album lit up the charts. We going to be hearing any of his songs 20 years from now? How about Lady GaGa? Bieber? Hell no. I bet you won't hear a song even 10 years from now.
THAT is the true test of a quality recording artist.

I listened to ROR all the way through once. I finally bought it 3 or 4 years ago, I refused to buy it originally and don't particularly care of it. TBF a few more times, but again I don't particularly care for most of it.

Of course, that started some the dysfunctionality that you are witnessing here, 30 years later in our little world at MR but you probably understand that already.
Journey on, Bro (or Broette)!

A bit unrelated, but for most of high school I have had to feel alone among my peers for liking Journey. Two days ago I met this really nice girl during after school practice for the school musical, and out of nowhere she just started singing "Anyway You Want It", happy as can be. So I asked her about Journey and told her I saw 'em live. We had a nice conversation and it turns out she loved that sort of music.

I don't deny this. You're absolutely correct. Again, Journey's done much better than Revelations (personally my favorite Journey albums are Infinity and Frontiers). But the thing is that I wasn't around when Perry was in Journey. Well, I was a little tyke when TBF came out, but Perry didn't tour with the band for that album, and any music that I didn't hear from a Disney film meant zilch to me.![]()
IDK how old anyone here is, but I have a feeling that to me Revelations is, to some degree at least, what any of the classic Perry-era albums were to everyone else. I'm about to graduate high school. The "now"-factor of the current lineup makes me connect with it more than the Perry-era does, regardless of the inferior music.

My girls are Journey fans too, but they very much connect w/the Perry years for some reason, they're 45 ...49!!
PS~REVELATION ...know the proper name of the LP you connect most with!!![]()
Seriously ...good to have some fresh meat!!

...but of course, although I couldn't name the songs on ROR except GCHI & IBAWY since they are played in concert. Let's see TBF is WYLAW and...
OK, now I'm actually going to have to listen to both of them all the way through again, so make that twice for ROR!!![]()
I just looked at the track list and missed WCTNGOF, I guess I do like a few.![]()

A Concert staple, Be Good To Yourself came off of ROR also. So that would be four songs you probably know, not even including the Top 20 hit Suzanne.
The_Noble_Cause wrote:"Change for the Better" is the punchiest track on the album - retro, but with a certain vitality. Wish there were more like this. In total, all the Rev rockers are very soft. Nothing like Arrival's "World Gone Wild" or "All the Things", or even Generations' "Out of Harm's Way"

Naw..like Monker has said, it sounds like a Survivor track. Very soft rock.
jestor92 wrote:If we're talking straight through I'd say in the 6-10 range. Nothing really stands to my ears on that album and to me it's thrown together batch of music. The lone good tracks on the album to my ears are Never Walk Away and Change For The Better. The rest of the album kind of sucks IMO.
Sunshower to my ears sounds like a rip off of Lights
Wildest Dream is boring, Augeri's Faith In the Heartland is much better than this version
After All These Years is a prototypical Cain ballad
The rest of the album I don't even remember what it sounded like because it bored me so much.
The instrumental is pretty cool though.
IMO the bands album out put in terms of quality has slowly gone down hill since Trial By Fire.

Neal understands this. That's why Eclipse is a masterpiece. Sounds like he lobbied for a long time to get a rocker out.
He said he loves this album, which probably means Cain doesn't.

I suggest another listen. Hell, the ending kicks more ass than
Survivor ever did (with Jamison).
Not trying to sell you on the song itself, but just how it
builds and is nuts at the end.
