Journey needs to pay off the search engines so when people search for "Lady Gaga" or any other music act, Journey's new video for City of Hope or whatever comes up first instead. People will be forced to love the new music.

I'm going to bet that a lot of Gaga's sales will be internet purchases. Also, People flipping over Eclipse won't find DSB, Faithfully or AWYWI on the back but those songs will be available, over in the other rack for a cheaper price.

Oh, and Target is offering a Deluxe package of Gaga's album also.

I was banking on the majority of teenie-bopper Gaga/Glee fans to be too dumb to flip over Eclipse. They'll see Journey and just be like "OMG I love DSB!!!!" and buy it

They'll just download DSB from iTunes or Amazon, or buy the Greatest hits. That album is still in the top 200 on Billboard, giving the appearance that new fans do differentiate between it and the re-records on Revelation.

On this recommendation, I tried a couple of Walmart stores in the Raleigh-Durham area today... no dice, yet.

I hope Kingfish is a good sport when each song gets dissected here, note by note. Plokkerville, this is not.

Im sure he has but to get the actual Hard Copy, in retail packaging signifies a job completed, which must be an enjoyable feeling.

I'm one that enjoys watching shows like Ask This Old House, Modern Marvels, etc. where I get to see how stuff works. Over the years, I've rubbed shoulders with plenty of folks on the accounting side of the music business and picked their brains a plenty. While we are a whiney and harsh group, most of us here do share a love for the creation process of making an album and I feel it's a real treat to have someone here on the forum who can give us a glimpse (even if it's just a small one) of how things get put together towards creating the final product.

Don, being sincere, I think this is really a good post. I'm glad David has posted and given us some insight into the process. It's great.

@David, Thank you!

I'm afraid the May 24th release date has turned out to be incredibly bad timing, as it hits 3 days after Judgment Day. Can we bump it up a week?

Forget that, even more bad news; May 24 comes one day after the official "I'm A Freak!" Day.

That would have to be on hold too, unless they plan on hosting it in the Lake of Fire.

She is not a freak, she just performs that way :wink: We shall see who tops the Billboard 200 after Release Day... if the world is still here :shock:

Well, since her pre-orders are rumoured to have already passed Britney's debut sales of 270, 000.... I'm thinking there isn't going to be too much suspense here.

Yep I hope these things don't hit shelves before the 24th.
I don't think they will that would be awful half-assed of Walmart.

No early shelf stocking at my neighborhood Walmart. The electronics manager told me that a "special" outside crew will come in late 5/23 and put up the display, no early sales are allowed.
