It's really difficult to say what I want to say, without demeaning privacy and/or trust,
so you'll have to pardon my roundabout approach:

You are troubled by two irreconcilable claims, a predicament I had actually anticipated
by offering the old Indian fable (the blind men and the elephant), which deals precisely
with apparently-irreconcilable claims.

I really don't want to say more. I guess I was too perturbed by what Cain said, for me
to remain quiet. "Buddhist" or "Christian", Arnel's beliefs probably should not have been
brought up by anyone, save perhaps by Arnel.

I thought he was Confucious: "She's a mystery, she's a sweet Confucian..." it's all good.

Confucian? I heard it as confusion.

I was being punny. But since it's a spiritual album, I make the motion for a lyric change.

You'll have to forgive Steve.
He hasn't been the same since the accident,
A man barely alive, after that plane crash....
Definitely off it now...

Ah, so there was a report saying Arnel was a Christian?

Well, based on how I recall it being worded on the band's website ("Arnel's past as a Buddhist" or something like that), my guess is that either Arnel started off a Buddhist and then converted to Christianity later on, or Jonathan just got confused and forgot to ask Arnel himself about it. I'm leaning towards the former, since Arnel really seems to dig 'Tantra', though that could just be irrelevant.

However, I do think Arnel is a Christian now, based on his opening lines in his "Thank You's" on Revelation and Eclipse: "Thank you so much to our Maker." and "Thank you God." Ambiguous, of course, but I'd assume that if he weren't referring to the Christian God, he'd name the god of the religion he followed (and I could be wrong, since I don't know much about Buddhism, but isn't it true they don't believe in a particular deity, just being reincarnated over and over again until souls blend and fade away into Nirvana?)

Who are you referring to? Arnel or Jonathan?

I know that Jonathan was apparently a survivor of the Our Lady of the Angels School Fire of 1958, so I figured he was at least raised Catholic. And I just know that it appears Arnel is a Christian.

That's true. All Christians are fundamentalists, however, who bomb abortion clinics and think the earth is only 6000 years old.

Does religion matter here ? Really ? I dont care if he worships a sack of doorknobs and bangs Neal at the same time ! I just care if the guy can sing ! He can believe that Oprah is god for all I care.

When threads get to religion they always seem to go toxic at some point. Who cares ! Worry about what you believe.

Well, according to Tom Cruise you can be both a Scientologist and a Christian, so... why not?

I know his brother Erik is a born-again Christian, brought to Christ through the Navigators when they were kids. Erik is a wonderful guy. I never got the impression he was Catholic in practice.

Speaking of Catholicism, I bet I could market Saint John air fresheners and make a killing off them - doubt anyone who bought them would know the difference.

It's the inspiritation for the Album theme and Jon has brought it up more than once now, so that's why we are talking about it.

I think Steveo777 has GaGa confused with Madonna.
