He just seems like the sweetest kid....and I do not mind his singing one bit!

I thought Neal was looking for a replacement for Augeri, not Steve Perry. And the disgusting whitewashing of the past decade continues...
Frankly, I am tired of this band hiding behind the stories of their downtrodden frontman. Augeri worked for the GAP, Arnel ate grubs and drank out of a toilet in a public park. So what? Who cares? Why is it when every other band gets legit publicity it's about the music, but with this band, it's always about everything BUT the music? Would anyone watching this segment come away knowing that Eclipse is a different direction? Otherwise, nice piece.

Nice to see AP giving back.....he has used this to really make a difference.

Really? You're gonna bitch about that? For starters, is it really a big deal about the shades? Many do it for a varity of reasons. Second, so they include the you tube thing for like 10 seconds.

I thought that was a positive review coming from me?? Geesh!

Well...this was a 10 minute segment around Don't Stop Believin' not the history of the band. I'm bettin' they had only 10 minutes. I think CBS did an excellent job on the history of the song and where it is today and then tying the song into Arnel's story. IT WORKS!! It was a logical way to end the piece and then throw in Eclipse. I thought it was fantastic, but to each his own.

I agree with you concerning the bit about replacing Perry. BAD!

In that case Steve would probably insist on approving the entire segment. Which means we would have had NOTHING!

Not sure loyalty is really what he's after, Steveo. I think he genuinely appreciates the sentiment, but let's face it -- for most of us fans, whatever he gives will never be enough.
So he just stays quiet and private.

How hard would it have been to make a comment or provide some feedback, as well as just say a few words and let people know where he stands, then be done with it?
He could just thank his fans for the years and state that he no longer sings and be done with it. It's not that hard, but then again, maybe it is for him. The continued BS
rumors of him coming with new music are perpetuated because he allows it to go on. Steve could pass the torch and validate the band's current efforts with just a few
words. Of course he doesn't have to and he knows this. The money still cometh no matter what he does or doesn't do.

BTW, FamilyMan....great job! I enjoyed the piece. :D

Most likely SP realizes he's had his moment.. and that this is Arnel's moment... and to interject himself would appear to some as SP trying to steal some of AP's thunder...

SP's legacy is always front and center in the Journey story... whether Journey or anyone else likes it or not..

I think by not interjecting himself into this iteration of Journey's media attention is the right way to go, for whatever reason he did it. Truth be told it seems like he gets shit whether he does or doesn't, ya know? He is an ass hat for declining comment, etc. and dissing the legacy, or he is an pompous jerk for trying to step into Arnel's limelight. He can't win!

I can see both sides on this. And maybe this segment on CBS would have not been the right place, but it would still be nice to hear from Steve and just get closure, pass the torch, etc. He might just hate them all too and not feel they are worthy. I would like to doubt that is true.

There seems to be this need from some fans for Perry to validate Pineda. Why?
I think there is some absurd logic floating about that believes Perry's stamp of approval on this current line up will somehow bring back all the '80s fans that have jumped ship over the years, and that the band will suddenly become as big as U2 or Bon Jovi are, playing Stadiums again and raking in over a hundred million a year and so on and so on.
Not that a Perry endorsement would cause anything significant to happen anyway but it's Nomota that needs to promote this lineup and this new album and so forth.
Seeing the bang up job they did getting the word out about Eclipse, it's obvious that the current Journey needs help in that department but It's not Perry's (nor Herbie or any other past associate for that matter) duty to do that for them.

REALLY GREAT story and update regarding the DSB and how it came about... have a great new respect for AP...and why Journey kepps going... the midnight train to Georiga reference was classic... and that GLEE is the main reason that DSB has had a resurgents of an amazing MASS APPEAL. I think even Journey is amazed, by all the hoopla...

so if you think about it from this perspective... two songs...One open arms... was meant for John Waite and the Babys... he turned it down... and journey sold millions back in 1981... and Coldplay turned down Glee and journey made millions almost 30 years later... lightning striking twice for the band, is great!!

and it sounds like everymans Journey will be released later this year... that should be one great documentary...

Did anyone else have a WTF moment during the Cirque de Soleil story when the reporter started throwing out all those revenue numbers?! And then when he told the story and background of the founder and the fact that he's a BILLIONAIRE!!!!! Holy Shit! If I remember correctly, they said there was currently a Cirque show going on in 32 countries simultaneously! I had no idea!

Great work on the segment FM! Good to have someone in the main stream media pushing for Journey!

In regards to your comment about Perry being a fan of Arnel, I would think this conclusion is perhaps a bit of a jump made from a "diplomatic" communication from Perry's camp in which an offer to appear was declined and which may have included some sort of statement like "...the touching story of Arnel's success"....or are we to assume that Perry has actually come right out and said he thinks Arnel is a great singer worthy of taking his place and that the once cracked stone is restored?
