This coming from Mr. Big's resident patron? You hear of a little song called 'To Be With You'?

You're funny, you've obviously never listen to their catalogue beside the radio hits, MB are HUGELY influenced by Bad Company, HumblePie, Free and other 70s bluesy rock. In fact, that's Mr EM rockin out in the audience to Rodgers/Schon and co. around the 4:00 minute mark there. And it's no secret I'm not on the radio hit band wagon, 'To Be With You' is probably one of my least favorite of theirs, just as 'Who's Crying Now, Open Arms and DSB' are definitely not in top favorites of Journey's either.

Very 70s influenced......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCj46crcrFY

Mr Big--good band. Not in Journey's league. They would have never been able to reproduce All Too Much in such a rockin' way. I remember Mr Big from the 70sor 80s but didn't find their way into my heart like Journey ( Neal/Steve/etc.) and a few others did...

What is 'All Too Much"?

Can't be Mr Big you remember in the 70s and 80s, they didn't even form until '89 or so.

Nah, the point is that the candyass pop filler of which you speak has managed to infiltrate its way into Mr. Big's catalog. You'll find that shit is ubiquitous for the vast majority in this genre.

Actually don't know what Mr Big has to do with this thread so i haven't paid much attention and don't care, lol.. I just vaguely remember them from the 80s and don't care very much. Mr Big I guess is good but not rockers like Journey had been through the decades and music scene.

If you scroll up, it was a discussion between me and Gid on 70s and rock music. But thanks for your opinion, I don't much care for your posts either, so it's all good. 8)

Oops, dang sorry. Me either whatever you said. Love the music tonight, feel so fortunate to be alive. Still am puzzled by mr. Big is in this thread but, who cares?!? Love People and Places--70s rock at its finest. 80s rock--different but rockin, too--but there is still something special about the 70s and a really good Journey tune.

Saint John wrote:Yulog, in 1995 Dave Matthews Band, Ace Of Base, Shania Twain, Elton John, Madonna, Natalie Merchant, TLC, Mariah Carey, Bryan Adams, Goo Goo Dolls, Alanis Morrisette, Whitney Houston, Garth Brooks, Celine Dion, Seal, Annie Lennox, Hootie and The Blowfish and Michael Jackson all had pretty big pop hits. Why didn't "the height of grunge" affect their music?

I never said grunge had an effect on Country, R+B, adult contemporary, dance or bands that lean toward grunge styling or are not melodic rock in nature. ( i would guess its because grunge took over the rock portion of the charts like i said earlier  )

It would stand to reason that if melodic rock/rock bands like (Journey , Styx, Reo, Loverboy,Boston,38 special, Bad company, Kansas, Mr mister,Night ranger, Mr Big, The outfield,Glass tiger, Nelson, Toto, Starship, foreigner, Survivor, Cheap trick, White snake , Winger, van halen, Fire house, Slaughter) were unable to do well in the early to mid 90's , Perry wasn't going to either. Grunge took over and changed the face and sound of rock. The bands above all struggled to do anything that could compare to their previous success in the 80's. Even bands that had strong cds in the late 80's early 90's(Slaughter, Firehouse, Mr mister, Nelson) were all but dead by 94. Grunge destroyed the music known as melodic rock /rock as people new it up to the early 90's(1992 ish) , it's not something I have to prove, its just history. Perry never had a chance, and lets face it what group of bands does he belong recognized with...My list, or your list

Bryan adams was the only person remotely related to Perry from your list(come on ! Celine dion? - Jesus!  ) he did well, one of those few that did okay but he still did much better in the 80's and it was a sign of what was to come , even for Bryan Adams.( i think that was his last platinum cd) Also, Adams didn't walk away and try to come back he was always working and the king of movie soundtracks, Big difference when comparing him to Perry.
