Foreigner was classic...Great vocals, drumming, and guitars! Everyone was on...the only part was Mick Jones just looked kinda down by seeing his facial expressions. I turned to my wife and said he seems like the only one up there who doesn't want to be tonight.

Now hearing all the complaints about Journey's sound guy on this tour, this was another off night. I don't know if we were too close to the speakers, but the bass was way too turned up and distorted sounding..at times I could not stand it..it totally messed up the melodies of the songs. I had to keep telling myself it is just the sound guy f'in up. The band itself, was great. I saw a couple of things, I think only a die fan would pick out....Neal messed up in the first song, Jon did too at one point, and Arnel came in a beat late on a song and was stealing the spotlight from Neal during one of Neal's solos on the walkout part of the stage and almost clocked Neal in head..Neal had to duck LOL .....but nothing major. It was great to finally see the band play WCN....I am pretty sure they did not play that song the last few times around these parts. Huge crowd, good to see the guys again. Glad they are still touring! I was also surprised how well City of Hope was received by the crowd...the crowd rocked it!

They nailed WCN, probably their best performance of the night in my opinion! The attendance is really bugging me, I can't find the figures anywhere. I've never saw a crowd that big there before so I'm curious to see what the number was.

I thought capacity was 20k. Got to be real close to that. Great turn out at any rate.

Both Foreigner and Journey kicked major ass and Ontario ate them up. Not a bored soul in the ampitheatre.

I heard a couple of the YouTubes and it sounded like the crowd was on fire.

Oh, they totally were... Some chick flashed her tits at Journey, IIRC, and it was caught on the big screens... I missed it... Too into the band.

I asked one of the security guys in Chicago and he told me they'd sold 24K+ not including the lawn. Made no sense to me since the venue only has 18K seats. I think he probably meant the advance sales were 24K. Anyway, the lawn was packed so with walk ups they probably came pretty close to the 28K+ number that venue holds. I believe Chicago is also the largest venue. So far, this is looking like a great tour for Journey, Foreigner and Night Ranger. They've all been great!! Chicago was also one of the most expensive shows. Up front seats were around $162 including fees.

Very cool! A true test to see if Journey can still draw would be to have them repeat this year's entire tour next year by themselves, with a not so well known / new act as an opener. I just wonder. I think they could pack Darien Lake by themselves.

I do too. I think they underestimate their draw. Which brings to mind what the breakdown is for the bands, monetarily. What do you think? Would it be an even three way split, or is it more like 40/35/25?
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Even with the last minute date change they still sold 10k the last time the played at Darien Lake in 2009 and that show was by themselves too.

"guitarist Neal Schon— one of the two remaining founding members, along with bassist Ross Valory"

I'm sick of reading this repeatedly. Management again needs to make sure the press know that there are 3 members remaining of the "classic lineup", the only lineup that they care about. If Perry was still in the band would the press still be saying 2 founding members or would they count him as the 3rd?

They didn't say classic lineup, though, they said "founding members" of which Cain isn't one.

I know, but my point is that "founding members" is meaningless, for this band and many others. This article, and countless others that state the same thing, are implying that the best possible situation would be all founding members - Neal, Ross, Rolie, Tickner, and Prince.

So am I, I'd like to know what those critics would say if they got their wish and had to listened to Neal, Ross, Rolie, Prairie Prince and George Tickner the other night.  These people don't realize that Perry wasn't a founding member.

The founding members comments are just historical references. It's only the hard core fans with some sort of chip on their shoulders that read more into it than is really there. I mean, is the writer supposed to put some financial research into the blurb and come up with a 'most-successful' line-up? No. Most concert reviewers have about an hour after the show to submit a few thoughts to their editors. And when there's more than one once-major bands concerned, they need to have balanced blurbs. That's all.
