It obviously doesn't bother folks that Arnel is a vocal chameleon.

Arnel is not a chameleon. Not my choice, but neither he or Kelly Hansen are that at all.

Arnel is the epitome of a chameleon, Hansen just happened to sound like Lou gramm.

I get that, but he can sing Survivor and Heart too. And for me, Journey found him. He didn't go into some contest to get the gig. Get what you are saying though for sure.

I don't think Arnel sounds like Perry at all. I think he just sounds good-excellent control. Kelly sounds like Kelly to me. He's amazing. He might be my 2nd favorite frontman now. I was astounded the first time I heard him a few years ago. And this time too--I was ready to leave BEFORE Journey in San Antonio. He just keeps bringing it. imho

It seems to me that nowadays if you put yourself on you tube, you have effectively put yourself into a contest to see who will be interested in your talent(either a band, record company, or tv show). Lets face it you tube is one of the top ways to get noticed in the music world.

Not if you are original !!

Name one thats made it big being original through you tube. Record companies and tv shows only take the safe bet, they put up a test on you tube if it bombs its no loss and if it catches on they run with it. Guess who is pulling all the strings.

It`s a contest for musicians who will perform a tribute show to Queen and Freddie Mercury and it`s supervised by Roger Taylor.

Funny, I thought this would link to his original song. How does this disprove he's a home depot singer? Does he write his own songs? That's not a rhetorical question. So enlighten me if he does do his own stuff.

Otherwise, these guys who don't write their own shit impress me... if they're playing covers in a bar. Not replacing true rock legends.

Yeah, like that Elvis dude...What did he ever do???

unbelievable!

Freddie is NOT back. This is just another fucking soundalike like that douchebag from Home Depot singing with Boston. I hope a meteor falls on this guys head. Enough with the clones!

Dude, lighten up! The guy has his own band doing original songs. EVERY singer, as they were learning how to sing, did their best to learn how to emulate their idols. This guy just got really good at it. He heard about the opportunity to be a part of a Queen tribute band and sent in a tape. I don't think his goal is to become the new lead singer for Queen. If others are suggesting that he should be, shame on them, NOT him.

I think he does Freddie's voice really well and he gets told that he sounds like him quite a bit, so he sent in a tape on the off chance he might be able to spend a few months participating in a Queen tribute band tour. No harm, no foul. At the end of the day, he goes back to his original band. Give the guy props for having a really good voice and move on. I don't see how this is the "death of originality," etc., etc.

I'm tired of crooners. Fucking just give me an original BAND that rocks out. I know that's no longer the business model, but fuck these clones! I just don't care. American Idol, tribute bands just enough already!

1. This was posted in Journey, because this is the best music forum around.

2. Regardless of whether or not one or two people do not respect Marc, he has incredible talent and has won multiple awards with his group Downhere - Including several Songs Of The Year and Albums Of The Year.

This guy is no Youtube slouch, and only submitted the audition by the prodding of others. His group is not doing much in 2012, so he figured he would fill some time. Just wanted to set the record straight.

No, it's posted here because Ritchie is an idiot.
Noone has said anything because the traffic cops, Steveo and the gang~bang,
only get their panties/thongs in a twist
when the topic turns to Steve Perry ...who
actually was, and always will be, a huge part of the Journey Forum (you
know the kids will forever bind them)

Someone w/a lot more intelligence/sense posted it in the correct spot, some time ago ...
