On one hand, I'm inclined to agree. On the other hand, I don't know if I can go as far as using the word "loser." For whatever reason, Perry, unlike many other great artists, doesn't seem to have the irrepressible urge to
create, notwithstanding the fact that he's financially secure/comfortable in life etc. Many other artists seem to
need to continue to create. He's not wired that way, for whatever reason.
Think of two young, equally intelligent entrepreneurs, both of whom sell their companies before 35 and make enough money to do nothing ever again. One continues to invest in new companies (or even starts new ones) or in real estate and generally continues actively building his wealth/working. For whatever reason, that guy
needs to continue to do that--he wants to work. The other retires to <insert paradise destination here> and lives the rest of his life just pissing around, not using his considerable business acumen/talents. I'm not sure that makes the latter a "loser."
I can relate to what Perry's done, even if it's frustrating as a fan. If I won the PowerBall last night, I can guarantee you my employer would be lucky to get, at most, an email or some kind of notice from me that I would not be coming in tomorrow
