Ah, the convenient amnesia defense...
There was a consensus among most fans online that Arrival was too ballad-heavy. Same with TBF. I'm glad that Neal put his foot down with Eclipse and tried to bring Journey back to it's rock roots. That doesn't mean that Cain wasn't allowed to contribute or have input.
As mentioned, he wrote the lyrics, he came up with concept, he hired Kalmusky, he played on it....it goes on and on and on.

There are a few typical Journey ballads, but not overkill, IMO.
