It's not one of my absolute favorites either RT...and I understand your point.
But IMO, Backtalk is the overwhelming worst of the bunch. And can you imagine, both Ask The Lonely and Only the Young were originally supposed to be on the Frontiers album...WHOAH!!!!

The hidden track off of Trial By Fire is one of the WORST songs I have EVER heard. Its something like Baby I'm Leaving You. HORRIBLE!! It makes Puttin On The Ritz sound classic!!!!

Geez people. EVERY Band has a bad one or two. Ok, Back Talk reeks, But Neal does a fine solo in it, and one of my worst bunches(if that's ok) are a handful from Departure...I'm Cryin, is the worst.

BTW, I am a guy, a masculine one at that, and I think When You Love a Woman is downright beautiful..all the strings in it, and the harmonic vocals are awesome.

What I found strange is that with all these supposed penned tunes by Perry, this is the BEST he had to offer?

Perry was always bragging about how many songs he had on the shelf that he wanted to record, so this was his best??

Then again, when you have wrestled away control of the band from the others.........

Ah...this was a JOURNEY project, not a Perry project

Fun topic, least favorite song....but when we insist on finding blame for songs that may not be a favorite, well then the topic has sadly changed

Exactly my point. A JOURNEY project...so are you saying Neal and the other boys approved of this mediocre song? Or did Perry have the control, as I said?

Read before you leap.

I was making a personal observation about a song. Didn't mean to hit a nerve.

 And didn't know there were "rules" as to what to say and what NOT to say, and about how far into a subject one can delve.

You wanted to keep it simple. I wanted to go more into depth about a song nobody liked. What's wrong with asking why the Portuguese god chose a mediocre tune when he had so many apparent others to choose from??

Good Grief!

As much as I love Perry, if he did in fact, "have the reigns, and called all the shots, why did he settle for lesser tunes?" Baby I'm leavin' you is awful. Like on Frontiers, They(He), or both parties, left off Ask the Lonely, and Only the Young in favor of Back Talk and Troubled child? Hmmm

I am not your brother, and you are the one who doesn't get it.

If Kenny wanted to find Perry, and Perry wanted to be found, there would be no problem, since they are both musicians.

Unless Kenny KNOWS already that Perry doesn't want to be found or talked about. So he complies with the wishes of the Portuguese god.

Wishful thinking will never make things happen your way.

One of them for me as well. I LOVED it when it was first released but my god, you would have thought it was the only song Journey ever had when it was released because it was played so much!
