Sunshower is gay, the chords all like all over the place its doesnt build or go anywhere. I dont like the accent. Sunshowa irriates the fuck out of me.Where did I lose Your love sucks. Frigas unmanly keyboard intro puts me in a bad mood.I if you play it and try to sing the keyboard part, you could sing Im gay Im gay Im gay Im gay and it fits. Faith should have been left alone or put it on there with Steve A on it and put "in rememberance of Steve Augeri who his been missing after he was hit by a bus that we threw him under".The rest of the Cd I like, except its starting to skip on Change for the Better, Walmart go figure, course I problablly played it100 times

Oddly enough I agree with everything said right here.

I never thought I'd begin to see eye to eye with stevew2 but it's been happening more and more these days.

I think WDILYL and Sep Ways both have a very similar feel, including the keyboard into.

I dont agree, World Gone Wild , and the intro to Neals lead on Message of Love is alot like Sep Ways.Frigas move chords up and down on WDILYL, but on Sep Ways he staying on on E playing the 5 th and going up one note and always going back to E5.

I'm late on this one but finally picked up Revelation on Sunday. There is a Walmart being built near me but had to drive to a nearby city to get a copy. One left in stock, so I walked away the victor. I've listened to the re-records and also the new album once through. Also watched a few songs on the DVD.

I'm impressed with Arnel. He really does have a hell of a voice and I really think he does a solid job on the remakes. If he can sustain himself for the long haul, I think Journey will be laughing. The remakes aren't enough to make me put away my regular Journey greatest hits, but definitely a nice listen. My wife, who only knows a couple Journey tunes, was blown away at how much he sounded like THE OTHER GUY ... though she did notice the differences more on FAITHFULLY. One minor thing: in my original greatest hits, Perry is listed as the first songwriter on the tunes that who co-wrote. On the re-records, they've mysteriously moved him to third spot. Odd.

I need to give the new album a few more listens as only one song really grabbed me on first take. I think it will grow on me. When my wife and I were listening to one of the tracks, we could have sworn it was LIGHTS, the way it started. LOL. Arnel sounds fantastic throughout ... gotta say.

Revelation Review

Postby paulfromwesthill » Fri Jul 18, 2008 4:58 am

Like others I've delayed my review to listen to the cd a few times or so I am a fan since 1978 by the way

Conclusion

Arnel can sing but isn't the production is a bit dubbed ? Lots of tracks are lacking energy ??

Track by Track This is my take

Never Walk Away Ok but sounds too much like Bad English

Like a Sunflower Don't like it doesn't go anywhere

Change for the better OK

Wildest Dream Best track so far

Faith in the Heartland still pefer Steve A's version heard it 100's of times I suppose

After all these years Never been a ballad fan but this holds up

Where Did I lose your love Like this alot !

What I needed Neal's great solo is a highlight

What it takes to win Love this song

Turn the world down tonight CD seems to get better with another Ok song

The Journey Neal Neal Neal

Let it take you back Bonus for Europe better than some have been saying

I am only at a 7/10 at the moment I'm comparing I suppose to 7 by Talisman

I will review again in a month or so

Musically it's great.
Cain even throws in a little Hammon-B3 into the mix.
Neal's solo is actually far better than this material is deserving.
This is lyrically on-par with "Every Generation."
That said, I would not have minded having this on the US release at all.
It goes without saying that Arnel sounds great.
When he soulfully emotes the refrain "do you remember" you will believe.

Honestly, Journey sounds like Jon Cain's band now. That goes for everything since Escape. The stuff with Greg Rolie was far superior in my opinion. Bluesier and just more soul. Everything since is kind of by the numbers. Good stuff for sure, but I like the pre-Escape material much more.

Neal must have been thinking about their tour with REO when he wrote Like a Sunshower. Roll with the Changes lyrics....."like a sweet sunshower". How original of him.

Chris Cornell and Wu Tang Clan also have songs called Sunshower. Hard to be 100% original in music anymore.

Couldn't agree more.....can you say sell-out?

The post-Escape material is good, but the pre-escape stuff is CLASSIC....all I'm saying.

Yet here you are still talking about Journey decades after Rolie left. Out of interest, do you ever have anything positive to say...? It seems a negative post from you is as certain as night following day.

As long as Friga's not out front singin' the tunes, I'm happy.

Yeah they're a pop band since Rolie left. But its not all Cain's fault.

I too agree the older more bluesy Journey had more soul. I like Never Walk away & Sunshower actually nearly the whole album. The do need to put a bit more feeling into it. ALthough not a record producer, it seemed many of the songs could have been elevated a bit by exploring a bit more edge. Some of the music behind the songs seems to go all over the place as well.

Can I ask? Does anyone else feel like we can leave the "make love" out of songs today? That is the only part of Sunshower I don't like at all. It just turns me off for some reason. It seemed s 70's ish to me in a 2000 era song.

Hell yes I agree. The lyrics are hard to take. I like the song otherwise.

I could do without the last "yeaaah" part on Sunshower. The word Make love, isn't so much bad when you consider what other word to be using, without sounding R rated. 8)
