I hated that song from the first time I heard it and the saddest part is how prophetic it's turned out to be. Video has not only killed the radio star it started the devolution of live music concerts into live musical performances.

Videos made it not only acceptable but preferred by the generation that grew up with MTV as well as the pre teens and teens watching it and VH1 now, to see people like TNKOTB, Madonna, BSB, N'sync, Britney, etc, jump, strut, bump, grind, and dance around on stage while lip synching to their songs.

I'm sure that some of our kids and/or grandkids now think we're just as lame for thinking that way about what video has done to radio, and some of us thought our parents and/or grandparents were for lamenting what TV did the the radio shows of their day.

Video/MTV not only killed the radio star, it spawned Britney Spears and the like. And melodic music was lost forever.........

Did these guys make it over in the States?
Living In a Box.
Lead singer, Richard Darbyshire.
Nice tone to his voice, I thought. No idea what happened to 'em.

And these guys. Dunno if they've been posted before, Fiction Factory with Feels Like Heaven, very 80's!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DdkigWz_M9o

and one more.....Living on the ceiling by Blancmange.

Debbie Gibson - Only in my dreams

She's now Deborah Gibson, I heard she posed nude for some magazine as well. Kind of like the J Geils band, Angel is a Centerfold.

I was hoping that this would never see the light of day again. What an embarassment.

Neither do I :P , but I sure remember those videos being played in rotation on MTV. As good as most of the music was back then, mainly MR & metal, some of it was just plain odd. At least MTV had variety at the time and didn't cater to mostly one genre like they do now. Headbangers Ball was alot more fun to watch back then too. Bring back Ricky Rachtman!!

My neighborhood was one of the last ones to get cable, so I would always have to watch MTV at friends' houses. I would have my friends tape HB Ball for me. I still have some cool shit on VHS from those days. I have a Billy Squier concert, a Ratt concert, a Sammy concert, and a few tapes of just videos from those days. It's fun to pop them in once in a while.

I was at YouTube, again of course, looking around for something and game across this group. This wasn't what I was looking for, but decided to take it a step further and pick a song from them to download, but I couldn't pick, so I did all of these. I believe one of these guys passed away from damn cancer..For being a sort of forgetten group, I too forgot how many hits they had.

Ditto. Those were great, thanks "8" for posting those. I've always like The Outfield a lot. The girl in the second video looks just like someone I'm dating, could be her twin.

LMAO!! I just figured it out, do you know who the guitarist looks like? Ted Danson!
