To me, this sounds like a composite of at least half a dozen ‘classic’ Journey songs, including Chain Reaction and Separate Ways. It left me with the impression of a band trying to sound like Journey.
Yeah, but this isn't the first time this has happened.
"To Be Alive Again" was redolent of "Be Good to Yourself". The keyboard segment of "Message of Love" was reminiscent of "Separate Ways" and "World Gone Wild" starts off sounding like "Separate Ways" until segueing into its own unique territory.
"The Place in Your Heart" is the same way, it's intro is suggestive of many things (chain reaction, separate ways etc etc) but the chorus is a total Journey original, as far as I can tell.
If one song off "Generations" deserves being conferred with the prestigious title of "classic" this puppy is it! GREAT tune.
