yulog. JSS is fantastic. You have to see AND hear him to fully understand. I was the same way you are because I hadn't heard a boot that sounded good enough to impress me. I can tell you after watching about 7 songs in soundcheck and being upfront at the show, he has hit his stride and has made the band white hot again. SEE A SHOW.

NIG they finally got to you AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

After this weekend in Boston and Atlantic City, I don't even respond to this kind of shit.

Dude, you have absolutely no clue to which you are speaking. None.

Well I wasnt trying to compete with anyone. Just needed unbiased opinions about my voice. Personaly I dont like the way I sound to myself but I guess thats something I have to deal with. I have to say that I cant hear anything about me that makes me better in any way than SA or especially JSS. These guys are pros and have my complete respect as long as they never lip sync live. I have heard JSS on some boots but the sound was too bad to be sure about many things. I know that JSS goes out there everynight and sings old Journey in the standward key and there are few people on earth that could. The only way I could would be to take vocal lessons, stop smoking, work out and sing scales daily. Just cant say i am that motivated since I write and play drums full time. However, some of your comments have had me considering taking it more seriously. I wish JSS would critique my versions and maybe give me some pointers about how he conditioned himself for it. Have you ever had any bad nights where your cords shut down on you ? (you wont hurt my feelings because there is no ego here.)

Dude, damn good job....I'm certainly not one to give advice as I've never been one to seek it :) All I can say is if you love it do it, it's the only reason I have since I can remember speaking. The other thing is 'always go to the source', someone once told me about 20 years ago, I sounded like what Sam Cooke would if he were doing rock music today. Knowing Perry was influenced big time by Cooke & I very much so by Perry, I dug into Cooke's library & see where the true inspiration came from. Most singers are usually influenced by the contemporary artists of today, but it's always great to go to the 'their' sources to see what else you might be able to conjur up.

Keep singing bro, it only gets better with time, the rest falls into place....JSS

JSS,

Thanks for taking the time to give me your feelings on my performance. Funny you would mention "the source". I have been listening to Sam Cooke for years. If there is any one singer besides Perry that I would like to be on par with it would be Paul Rodgers. He comes 2nd only to classic Perry in my book and cool thing is that he still has it however, I think you would have been the better choice for Queen myself. He isnt "animated" enough for Queen IMHO. Ive heard you cover every inch of the stage during a live Journey show ! I still want to know something though. Did you have to condition yourself for Journey ? Did you even have time ?

First - singing drummers rule!

Very good job. Awesome range, you were dead on key.

A small critique - you sounded a bit "nasaly" (if that's even a word).
It's like you were holding back, and/or not singing from your diaphragm.

With that said, you are a vocal asset to your band.
A few lessons and you would be very, very, VERY good.
