Even I don't think that's true.

Vocalist-wise from that era Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Pat Benatar, Sting, Bono....etc.

Those are household names.

Steve Perry is not. A little more than Neal, like I said but for the most part "Journey" is those guys' household name.

I agree but more importantly, imo, is how they are viewed by their peers, people who appreciate the talents of musicians more than the general population. And it seems to me that Neal is as highly regarded as a talent as Perry and much more liked as a guy they like to be around.

Yup, Perry is not even close to being a household name like the ones listed above. Journey is, though.

Hell, even I agree with this one JoePa. I just don't think the average music fan has any clue what the names of band members are. Sure...the die hards always take the time to find out who is who, but the average fan simply doesn't give a rat's ass. Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty was obviously well aware of this, as he always referred to his band as "Matchbox Twenty, featuring Rob Thomas". In any event, I definitely do think Perry had a solid repuatation in the industry as being quite the voice. The guy was good enough to influence a whole lot of musicians...Ask JSS! Jeff's style and voice couldn't be more different than Perry's, but somehow, says he was still influenced by Perry.
