Welcome aboard, Jeff.

Why is it that when someone who is NOT one to claim to have inside info/contacts makesa LOGICAL observation that they are somehow of a deluded or unclear mind?

Contrary to what you continuously rant and rave about I have only seen and read "hints" from the all-knowing Andrew however I've yet to see ANYTHING from JSS that leads me to believe that he's "in" and SA's "out". In fact his responses to anything speculative tend to support his temporary status.

I'll be SO HAPPY when something OFFICIAL is reported. All of your claims mean absolutely NOTHING to me. I don't care who you know or who you claim to know - you and Dean are NOT credible sources in my so-called unclear mind. In fact I question your motives for EVERYTHING you post here.

It's taken too long for management to get a handle on what they are allowing them to release as the "official" statement for it to be anything other than fear of it affecting the tour. Considering that the band and management (and a hell of alot of other people, not on this site) knew Augeri was out before Augeri knew he was out, why so long to announce Jeff as his replacement? The only logical reason is so they didn't risk compromising the tour in ANY way, since DL were really the headliners and bringing in the bulk of fans. If nobody can put it together why Augeri, his family or friends haven't said SQUAT or typed SQUAT to anyone about anything, then I've got some prime swampland to sell ya. :D I don't expect anything but a carefully thought out spin job by Journey management, delivered by who they think will be the most believable....Jon Cain. I don't know why they think he's the guy, after some of the dumb shit he's come out with lately, but he'll deliver the spin.
As long as they come up with something besides a 2007 tour full of old hits, I don't care who they get to sing, as long as he CAN sing...and just as important...WRITE. That was completely missing with Augeri.

Bullshit.
This lead singer transplant has restored Journey, not watered them down.
Now there is a band out there that both fans and all bandmembers alike are proud to take part in.

Restored indeed! I agree. Now, I never saw them live with SA...I thought I was about to this summer until the switch and I ended up seeing JSS. And having seen JSS, I will say - I will definitely go again. Can't say the same about SA. Never got into that incarnation of Journey.

You missed out BIGTIME not seeing the 2005 Generations 30 year tour... 3 hours of Journey- pre-Perry, Perry, and Augeri-Generations...Best show ever including those by Perry and JSS...including the best set list by far. For ONCE, the band did not run from their new material (6 songs from Generations which sounded incredible live) and Augeri was INCREDIBLE (screw those who claim he was lip-synching, I know better, I was there).

I'm sure JSS will be amazing as the new singer, if that happens and by all accounts, it is a done deal. I think that JSS will do what Augeri has not done and that is make the band ROCK harder than it ever has.

That being said, I think Augeri has received way too much disrespect on this site.. He stepped into some shoes that were pretty much impossible to step into, brought many new younger fans into the Journey camp, worked his ASS off for eight years and put his heart and soul into this band, it's music and it's fans. I think he deserves a lot more respect and appreciation than he has received on this site (though I know full-well that this post will get trashed as anything positive about Augeri posted here does).

I'll definitely give you that. I think he took a whole lot of unnecessary shit for that.
He couldn't help or change what came before him.

I think you're right. He deserves more respect than a lot of people have given him.
Personally, I couldn't get into it, BUT that is just a personal thing and doesn't mean that SA didn't do the best job he could. Just for having the cojones to step into a position he had to know he'd be scrutinized for should warrant him a lot of respect. I sure as hell wouldn't want to do it.
I won't comment on the Tapegate business because I never saw any of those shows so that wouldn't be fair.

Absoultely.

But...

The thing is, he should have had the "cojones" to step back out of the position when he could no longer do his job.

Possibly. but given that his predecessor bailed out not once but twice...maybe he didn't want to pull that kind of thing too.

I think the whole 'filling shoes' bit is a stretch. Augeri was paid handsomely, I'm sure and given a huge opportunity to advance his career.

I totally agree about the stepping down bit.

What happened with Steve A and what happened with SP are two totally different situations. SP was not in good shape emotionally, mentially...etc. He had to jump ship to save himself. He would have NEVER done the tagegate thing.

Yes I agree, two different reasons entirely. And no, SP would never have done the tape thing. I agree totally.
But he did bail out, and whatever the reason, that would have been one more thing that people compared with SA and SP, that's all I meant....just the way people always compared the two.

& as we've discussed many times here, being there can be deceiving. Have u listened to any boots of shows from last yr? When u listen to those & hear the songs sang the exact same way nite after nite after nite, that's when it becomes very apparent. I really suggest u try it. Very eye opening.

journeyinto2001 wrote:That being said, I think Augeri has received way too much disrespect on this site..

Ur probably right about that. But we're nothing if not passionate about Journey here. Many were hurt to discover Augeri lipped. I know u don't believe it yet, but the evidence is all there & it just can't be denied.

journeyinto2001 wrote:He stepped into some shoes that were pretty much impossible to step into, brought many new younger fans into the Journey camp, worked his ASS off for eight years and put his heart and soul into this band, it's music and it's fans. I'm not trashing ur post. He did all of the above, yes, I'm sure. But remember this, he chose to step into those shoes. No one forced him to do it. U Augeriheads act like all Journey fans should worship him at the altar for doing it. It was his choice & he was paid for it. He didn't volunteer to go to some dangerous country to help starving kids. Obviously, it was something he wanted to do.

As for respect & appreciation, if he'd stepped down, instead of resorting to lipping, he would have some. In fact, I bet the tone about him on this board would be pretty different if he'd stepped down last year before doing that, or even this year. It's hard to respect & admire someone who did that. & yes, I know, that leads to why do we still respect & admire anyone in the band because surely they all knew. I don't have an answer to that, except none of us want to stop loving Journey. But Augeri was the one who lipped & that's why it's hard to respect him. & please, u owe it to urself to find out the answer about this guy u love so much, listen to some boots of shows from last yr & prior yrs. Find out for urself what we've been talking about.

Now that is funny. For the record, my interaction here is for discussion and entertainment. "Exploit Journey" what the hell are you talking about? What I gain from Journey is pleasure. I am entertained when I attend a live show and enjoy the vast catalogue immensely. Careful making such claims, you are way off base here.
