The way I look at it Perry does NOT have to DO something for me, in order for me to keep being his fan. It is MORE about just appreciating HIM for what he has done, and if he does gives me more, I'm VERY HAPPY of course, I'd rather that it come from him, that HE WANTS to give to the fans, NOT ME demanding he give me more music OR else I'm gone as a fan. Yes yes yes yes yes. I 150% agree. He doesn't have to do anything and he certainly doesn't owe anyone a damn thing. If you bought the CD's, then you got what you paid for. If you ever bought concert tickets and you in fact attended the concert, then you got what you paid for. Anyone that's going to say they are not going to be a fan if he doesn't do this or that wasn't really a fan in the first place.

I would have loved to see the surviving Beatles come back and do something, but I'm not going to take my ball and go home because they didn't. Instead, I'm going to enjoy what they did give us during their time together. Same with SP, and with Journey, and with The Who (although those guys finally ponied up with a new CD, so yay! - but if they didn't...I'd still be a fan) and with anyone else.

What Deb (strungout) said! Why can't Lora, Cyndy, JSS...or anyone make their own decisions & do what they want? What they choose isn't taking anything away from their friendship/fanship of SP. I'm actually glad to see they want to come share here. They are human. Maybe, they feel like "letting their hair down" and being the fans that they are & people they are.

I'm also not thrilled with some of the pics or language that posters here display, but I also feel like I can say what I want without being reprimanded...it's like living in the free country, it's got it's good & bad points but better than dictatorship. Besides, some of the things I've said concerning SP's "assets" might be considered in the same vein, so who am I to judge? Personally, I would be happy to know what Steve Perry thinks about the things you've mentioned. While he may not appreciate some of the toxic stuff that goes on here, I'm sure he appreciates his fans for what they are: fans.

I don't think anyone in this tread threatened to stop being a Perry fan if he didn't do something new. I, for one and I know I'm not the only one, could never stop being a Perry fan. How could any of us stop listening to the voice we love?

Even though we appreciate the reissues with the new songs, we've been hearing snippets of news that might lead us to believe that Steve is doing something new. The slightest possibility of hearing some new music from him, for me at least, totally overshadows the reissues. That's what some of us want to know about. If anything I said made anyone think I was threatening to stop being a fan or that I didn't appreciate the reissues, I guess I just didn't elaborate enough in my posts. I guess my use of the word crumbs was taken way to seriously by some people. I only meant that compared to some actual new material the reissues were crumbs. But hell, a starving person needs crumbs.

What I really want is for ALL of them to get off their collective asses and write something new that's worth spinning in my CD player. I liked getting the more obsure stuff that was included, but now it's time for all you Journey and ex-Journey dudes to show the fans you've still got some creativity and life left in you.

My only questions for Steve Perry at this point are...WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU, DUDE and WHY NOT THROW CAUTION TO THE WIND AND RECORD SOMETHING NEW? The talent you have is something other people only dream about. Quit second guessing yourself and just DO IT!!

My question would be less respectful. "Why is everthing so "difficult" for you?" People with far fewer gifts, and far smaller bank accounts get by just fine, and without the benefit of decade long breaks.

ummm, no disrespect, but I don't think the guy would come on to say "I'm recording a new album that'll be out in a year or 6 months." They do appearances and interviews to promote a product that is just about to hit the streets or one that just has. If there was a Perry release slated for the next week or even month, people would already know about it.

Thanks Badcotune. I'm not saying I expect Perry to launch into some big tour with a shitload of dates all over the country. All I'm wondering is if there is any desire left for writing and performing. IF so, ACT on it while you still have youth and a great fanbase who would appreciate it. If you can't bring yourself to even put something on I-tunes, then just say you are most likely done with it all. I'd prefer the old school way with the CD & a small tour, but there are other ways to get music out there to people without a label who require extensive touring.
