That's just a cursory look at the sort of music that flooded our airwaves for the best part of a decade. Every one of them was either openly or highly suspected to be gay.

Please note I have nothing against that lifestyle - I just hated that music.

Okay - I'll give you Marc Almond, Erasure and the Pet Shop Boys - and possibly Kajagoogoo - but all the other acts were heterosexual or were claiming to be - even though they all looked a bit gay. But then so did Whitesnake.

Here's a fun place where the origins of band names are revealed.

I'm pretty sure that the other guys in the band wouldn't have agreed to the name "Queen" if they thought it had anything to do with drag queen.

You think Whitesnake looked gay? Interesting. Other than the long, poofy hair, I don't see it.

Isn't "We Will Rock You"/"We Are The Campions" heard at many major professional sporting events?

The teams must not be afraid of the "gayness" - the cost to play the tune at those events used to be from $10,000 and up ...... have no clue what it is up to now.

He was living with a woman in the early days.
But in a very early book written about them ['Queen' by George Tremlett] there was a section asking what the band's hobbies were. Freddie's answer was "ponsing and poovery."
So I think they did know, but didn't make a big deal of it. It was just part of that rich tapestry which made up Freddie.

And I seem to remember that the name was chosen to represent 'majesty' and stuff like that, with a tongue in cheek reference to Freddie being a 'queen.'
The theatrical old dear, I miss him.

He lost the respect with that keytar and the 'air keyboard' playing in that damn video.

Only joking.
He's great.
Is that red piano a phallic symbol do you think?
