Anyone else catch this little tidbit from Jeff at BT?

I was thinking of a lot of those horrible 80's acts like Marc Almond, the Pet Shop Boys, Boy George, ABC, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls, Fun Boy Three, Kajagoogoo, Morrissey, The Smiths, Spandau Ballet, The Thompson Twins... the list goes on. That's just a cursory look at the sort of music that flooded our airwaves for the best part of a decade. Every one of them was either openly or highly suspected to be gay.

Please note I have nothing against that lifestyle - I just hated that music.

The teams must not be afraid of the "gayness" - the cost to play the tune at those events used to be from $10,000 and up ...... have no clue what it is up to now.

They didn't know then.

He was living with a woman in the early days.
But in a very early book written about them ['Queen' by George Tremlett] there was a section asking what the band's hobbies were. Freddie's answer was "ponsing and poovery."
So I think they did know, but didn't make a big deal of it. It was just part of that rich tapestry which made up Freddie.

And I seem to remember that the name was chosen to represent 'majesty' and stuff like that, with a tongue in cheek reference to Freddie being a 'queen.'
