Thanks, Spike ! Now I have it in the right place ! :D

You're welcome. Do you have the Schon & Hammer handy?

Steve's..er..low in the mix on that Doheny track isn't he?

Pretty much, yes - it was recorded in 1977 before Perry's vocals were as well known as they became.

I have a ton of stuff, but can't find either the Tim Bogert or the Schon & Hammer. I'm blaming the defunct hard-drive, which had loads of music on it.

I got everything from my old hard drive. He just hooked it up as an external drive to the new PC so I could access it. Ok he might have done some other magic too. But I've never lost anything over the years & I've killed a LOT of hard drives. He always manages to get my stuff for me. I am TOTALLY awful when it comes to backing stuff up too. So he always has to rescue my crap. See if u have a PC wizard friend who can get urs.

It was my wizard friend who told me that this one had curled up its toes! Couldn't get anything to read it. It was so fried that the PC was trying to boot up on its network card! I did previously get stuff rescued from a laptop damaged by a lightning strike, but no luck this time.

I did have a lot of stuff backed up (and yes, I do use an external hard drive as a back up these days) but I can't track down which one of hundreds of back-up CDs accumulated over the years has these little treasures on it! Something must have gone awry with my labelling system! I'd blame my assistant ... if I had one. :D

Spike, I always burn music, usually two discs, as a back up. I never, ever, leave music on my harddrive, just in case of harddrive failure.

Now I have an external harddrive that I use to put my music on. :D

Don't try to boot from that damaged hard drive. Get ur friend to hook it up as an external drive AFTER u get set up w/a new drive to boot from (I assume u already have one). That's what the hubby does for me. In fact, I can right now read from the last drive I fucked up but I'm booting from an entirely separate pc.

That's what we did - replaced the hard drive and then tried to read the "dead" one as an external drive. Tried on more than one machine. Nothing. I wasn't too concerned because I do have a lot of things backed up. It's just

a. Finding them, and
b. Those few items which I hadn't got around to backing up yet,

which, regrettably, would include these songs. I shall go and kick myself some more now. Must back up on a regular schedule ....

Damn. That happened to me once. He somehow was able to do some kind of restore & get my data tho. Don't know if it's worth it to u or not.

He now has me on a system w/RAID which automatically backs up from one hard drive to the other on the fly. It's super fast & I'll never have to worry about backing up again (I'm terrible about that). This was only about $600 to build so not bad.
