Yeah, but when Neal actually does it, he gets criticized.

Sorry, Neal. Just kidding!

Dreams are wonderful things.
That particular dream is very crowded!

He said he'd like to make another album before he dies.
Maybe he will, maybe he won't. But he sure is observing Showbusiness Rule Number One........always leave 'em wanting more.

He also said he wishes he had many lives so he could marry us all. Cute funny guy isn't he?

When Neal does it he just ends up even more broke!
You'd think he'd learn.

So u really don't wish he'd make some more solo music? I have to admit I REALLY do. If that's means I don't "truly support" him then so be it. The man's voice is like nothing else & I just want more (not w/Journey tho).

Susie,
Of course I would love for him to make more new music, ANYTHING he wanted to do,I ALWAYS HOPE for that, but I still respect his right to live his life the way he wants to.

By the way, my post above was not directed at you. Some fans here like to make it sound, as though, it is the Perry fans that "have issues" with Perry not singing or not being in Journey anymore, but really it is more of an issue with those fans that keep bringing this subject matter up here.

It's getting late and I will admit that I want something heartbreakingly new from Perry with the guys from Journey. A last ditch attempt, yes and maybe! Something to speak of the past, present and future of their time together because it was something so special. If only for the moment!

Last year in that Powerplay Magazine interview [I posted it up at the time] he actually said, "I would like to make another album before I die" or words to that effect.

He is fuelling the fire by saying stuff like that and by not saying what JR(Susie) just typed.

He is a very naughty boy.

I really think he's just being honest Susie. If he were to say he was retiring, or even something that some people could interpret as such and then decided to try one last hurrah, he would be called a liar by some people. If he comes out and says he's actually going to do something and then for whatever reason it doesn't happen he'll be called a liar by some people. He can't please everyone no matter what he says. So I think he's just simply telling us what he really feels and what he's really doing.

He obviously hasn't retired from music because he's involved in so many things with so many people. That may not be what we ultimately want from him, but it's a long ways from retirement.

I think the reason he's not saying he's not going to make another solo CD is because he honestly hasn't decided if he is or not. I think he's absolutely through with Journey because he has said so. If he was sure he wasn't going to do a solo CD, he'd say so.

Why should we be trying to force him to say he's retired when he isn't sure himself?

He probably doesn't want to make a mockery of himself like all these bands doing their 2nd, 3rd & 4th Farewell tours!

He's 58, not quite pushing 60. When u get to that age, 2 years are precious. I know u don't realize that at ur tender age :-)

Just a few examples of people u might consider "rock gods" older than Perry who can still bring it & are anything but "worn-out".

I figured I'd get blasted over that. Yes, there are alot of those guys out there that are still busting ass. But I'm saying, hope for the best, expect nothing, and be pleasantly content either way. 8)

True.
It's best to stay quiet - but - he keeps getting asked about it so he feels obliged to comment.

That's probably a lot of it. Also, the comment he made in that one interview where he said he didn't want to be a parody of himself rings in my brain every time I read some comment about him not being able to sing the early Journey stuff in the original keys.

It must get annoying. Kinda like going to high school reunions & constantly being reminded of the guy u dated who was, at that time, the quarterback & looked a lot like Tom Cruise. Now, he's a big fat bald guy who acts like an ass. I think that's a good analogy.

I didn't shat all over Augeri. I went to at least 8 concerts where he was the frontman (including 5 in the same year). I didn't think he compared to Perry. I hated his wiggle & his silly dancing. I think Butterfly is a piece of shit. But I've said several times, he was ok for a concert.

I can't watch him dance anymore with a straight face. I admire the guy, but so much has been made of the wiggle dance that it gets to me now. lol

My memory is going...I saw at least one concert each tour, often more like two to four each time - for the life of me I am trying to picture the "wiggle". I can't do it. I don't ever remember sitting there going, "Hmmm....Steve Augeri is wiggling....". I'm going to have to pull up a You Tube or a DVD and see what I obviously (didn't) miss.

I do remember getting all upset when I heard that he actually did a "spin" onstage! LOL! This was when I was NEVER going to EVER support Journey AGAIN after SP was so unceremoniously BOOTED out of the band. (Remember, this was 1997, folks, lots of water under the bridge since then). The "spin" was Steve PERRY's move, how DARE SA even try it!

Geeze, now I feel like a retroactive loon......

Gotcha Lori. Thanks. I guess I'm to blame tho. I'm a Perry fan & I keep bringing up that I want him to sing again.

Nothing wrong with wanting! Geeze, and Perry can be a tease. He's content with his life. Good. I'm content with mine, too. But if he ever becomes DIScontented, well, I'll be the first on iTunes when that happens!

In all fairness to Augeri, he spun quite differently & he was spinning even back in his TS days. I've seen a video of him spinning live w/TS.

F'N A EXACTLY! DAMN! He has a right to live his life any way he wants to. PERIOD!
I think that we get the same syndrome that teachers do. Time stands still for them and I think the same goes for some of us with people/groups we grew up following. Especially with those who aren't out there much anymore.
We think and expect that they can and should still be doing something for US. Yet, do we forget also how old some of these people are.
How long do we expect them to, and be able to still produce/do something we WANT?
It drives me nuts that some keep EXPECTING...just because someone gave us something great once, doesn't mean they owe us that for the rest of thier lives.
I totally respect how the dude has chosen to live his life. Kudos.

2 things

I need to hear steve say "I will NEVER get back with Journey again". Then i will accept it that he will never get back with them. but I would still leave it open in case he changes his mind. Until then, all of the non commital things hes said dont mean much to me. Will he get b ack with Journey? No I doubt it because I dont think he can sing those songs anymore.

Here are my questions? Why is Steve Perry not need to work but Journey needs to tour and Ross was cutting bait etc etc...?/ They sold 200 million records!! WTF?

and 2

WHy is Steve so pissed at neal, and vice versa that they cant even speak to each other? They needed to work but steve didnt why?

Nobody on the phone
nobody I can reach.
I feel it in the air
that Friga’s out of reach

Empty bank account, empty hearts,
the sun goes down alone.
I'm driving by Neal’s house
though I know that he’s not home...

And I can see them
singers in line around the block
Jon’s got his hair combed back
wears his hairdresser’s smock, baby

I can tell you
my love for them is no longer strong
after the bastards of summer have gone.

out on the road today
I saw a Friga/Fro sticker on a cadillac
a voice inside my head said don't look back
you can never look back

I thought I knew what love was
what did I know
those days lasted but a minute
I should just let them go and...

I can see them
shattering the stone
you know the Journey’s over And I’m better off alone
I can tell you
my career will still go on
after the bastards of summer have gone.

Yeh thats it.
