Damn man, the ND Nation is gonna jump off the top of the stadium this year, especially if you listen to the "experts". ND will always be ND, competitive and win the games their supposed to win and lose by a slim margin on the ones they are picked against. No different than any other year. But you do have a GREAT coach so anything is possible....

I think Charlie Weis will win a few championships before he is done. Not this year, tho. Give him a year or two with the new QB, whoever that may be:

Coach Charlie Weis wasn't giving any hints Monday on who Notre Dame's starting quarterback will be this season - and doesn't plan to until the Fighting Irish take the field against Georgia Tech on Sept. 1.
''I certainly don't want to tell Georgia Tech what I'm doing because I'd rather they spent more time having to figure: Are they going to play a true drop-back quarterback? Are they going to play an athletic quarterback?'' Weis said. ''I'm not really in the business of giving out free information.''
Evan Sharply, Jimmy Clausen and Demetrius Jones are competing to replace Brady Quinn, who broke most of Notre Dame's passing records as a four-year starter. Weis had hoped to enter fall practice with two quarterbacks vying for the starting job, but said the competition has been too close.
Notre Dame is keeping so quiet about the quarterback competition, though, that quarterbacks coach Ron Powlus wouldn't answer any questions about the three.

Jones is the best choice of the 3. You'll need mobility because the QB this year is going to be running for his life. I suspect ND will be playing from behind this year a lot so it stands to reason that they'll go with Jones. Clausen, while a stud, just isn't ready for this level...yet. Charlie Weiss is a fat pig and a mediocre coach. He hasn't proven anything to suggest otherwise. Sue people because you eat Big Mac's like they're M&M's and needed fat ass surgery? No pride whatsoever. Nice example. The guy is grotesque. Always has spunk around his mouth. No wonder he's a good recruiter.

My brother has met him numerous times and says he lives to coach football. Weis was at an alumni M&G thing, and all he could think about was getting on the plane and being at practice at 6 am the next morning. Kind of pissed off the alums, but the man is born to coach.

If ND's looking to go to top 25 and a NYD bowl again, Weiss should start the upper classman but make SURE Claussen gets signifigant time every single game like upwards of a quarter.

for 2 years I'd been SCREAMING for Paterno to do that w/ Morelli but no, as a junior he looked he looked like a Frosh for the first half of last year.

Quinn finally signed with the Browns. As much as I love ND, and know that he holds a lot of records, I'm not sold that he will be a great NFL QB. Especially not in Cleveland.

He's got guts, got the build, got the intangibles, he's a winner but there seems to be questions about his accuracy.

Me, I wanted the Eagles to draft him in the 1st rd.

We'll see. I hope you're right, but he didn't impress me too much at ND. I don't remember my jaw dropping at his skill very often.

He was the #1 QB prospect when he picked ND, wasn't he? I know that Weis had Tom Brady call him when he was being recruited.

And Brady should be ashamed for doing that.

Regardless of his allegiance to Dangerfield, when it comes to college ball he shouldn't be doing anything for anybody but Fllllloyd and MeCheatAgain. Jesus, ND is a major rival of Brady's Alma Mater.

Here are the schools that wanted him:

USC
The entire PAC 10
Florida
FSU
Texas
Texas AM
Colorado
OSU
Miami
VT
UVA
and a bunch of others.

I agree. Dude, if someone asked me to call them and I was a decorated QB at WSU, I would tell them to go fuck themselves. My school first, fuck everyone else.

What a lot of folks don't understand about college athletics is, there is a serious sense of loyalty. If you go to college, you will feel something very different from a fan who "just likes a college team."

Tennssee thought they HAD him b/c of Casey Claussen playing there.

I love a good recruiting battle.

Juanno, hear JoePa just got a verbal from a top RB prospect?

And that's what Weis brings to ND. "You wanna run an NFL-style offense and go high in the draft? Here, let me have Tom Brady give you a call." It's so great that they can FINALLY attract QBs.

Yea the Irish haven't really gotten a TOP qb prospect like that since Powlus in '94.

Powlus is ND's QB coach now. That could be a ticket to the pro coaching ranks for him in a few years.

Deano, is it my imagination or does that chick in your avatar keep changing positions?

Worked for the Democratic Party in Pennsylvania, and now is QB's coach at Notre Shame.

Yep, cupboard's a little bare there.

I'm still worried Austin Scott runs too upright between the tackles THIS season.

Kinlaw will be a HUGE surprise this year. With both of them sharing the duties I think we'll be fine. They compliment one another perfectly.
