wellWalmart bought ASDA out a few years ago, but the chain retained it's name.
it was originally a small shop started by dairy farmers in Leeds in the West Riding ( Yorkshire) way back when, and the name is an acronym of ASsociated DAiries.
Yep you need to send me some pics, and I have some of Castle Howard where I visited on Tuesday in the vain hope of finally finishing a painting of the place I have been doing for the last 2 years!! :)

My cousin recently got a job at ASDA. I keep forgetting to email him to tease him about it. He's in college, so I really should give him a break. He has to have a job somewhere. Of course I worked at Wal Mart for a few months after I finished college, so I can't really talk. Now I'm at Wal Mart every week buying whatever crap we need. The one by me is ALWAYS packed.

Thanks for letting me know! :D

No problem. Its the same place where they display the T's in the little plastic squares. Pick up a Def Lepp and an REO High Infidelity while your there....

roflmao....... Seriously, my Wally World is so damned small, I don't even know what the hell you are talking about when you say "T's in the little plastic squares." WTF???? We have either on the damned rack or in the packages ala hanes. Geesus I live in backwater hell down here! :!:

It means the shirts are stacked on shelves and above each shelf is a long plastic thing - they display a roughly 12"x12" square pic of each tshirt design and the stack of shirts is neatly displayed on the shelf under the picture...

...theoretically.

But this is Walmart so the way it really goes is half the plastic display whatchamacallems are empty and the rest of the tshirts (75% of which are not folded and strewn about aimlessly) are under the wrong picture. If you're looking for Journey shirts, guys... good luck. My Walmart had them under the display pic for the Queen shirts. I've never seen a Def Lepp one. Seen Pink Floyd, Skynard and Hendrix a lot. Was shocked when I saw Journey and Queen. I kinda want the Queen one.

And why do they never have these in womens'? Target is the same way - all the cool t-shirts are in the damn mens dept.

 Ya think? I guess I didn't make it clear. We don't have a section with the plastic displays... at all. The shirts are either hanging on a rack or in packages in the underwear area.

As to why they don't place these shirts in the women's section.... women folk aren't supposed to wear such things. Didn't you get that memo?  That is, of course, unless the tee is pink.

Nope... I'm in TX. Can ya'll get two baskets down the same aisle at the same time? In ours, we can't even come close to that. Isn't it awful that we're wondering who has the smallest Wally World? hahahahahaha

I did check mine earlier and we don't have them. We had two each of the Doors and Lynyrd Skynyrd. In 3XXX at that.  Guess that's what I get for living in the south!

Okay, who'd like to grab me a shirt at theirs and send it on to me? Of course, I'll pay all costs and a little extra for the trouble. ::::hopeful look::::

Got em

Postby chynablue » Sun Dec 02, 2007 5:12 pm

I made a special 45 minute trip to Walmart today solely based on this thread. I looked everywhere (including in that 12 X 12 t-shirt display) and couldn't find the shirt. I was ready to give up when my wife came over to help. She looked up and down every rack and in the bottom row in the back of the last rack, we found the Journey & Pyromania shirts. I totally thought we were out of luck. They were not on display at all, if I hadn't read in this thread that they were out there I would never have found them. Bastards.

The shirts aren't that great (one sided Frontiers logo on Navy Blue? They couldn't just use black like the other shirts?) but for under $10 I guess it's a steal, eh?

I wonder who authorizes licensing for something like this...?

Don't you think that Perry is getting a cut of the Journey shirts?
Btw, didn't Journey play a WM convention with Soto at the mic? I guess that makes him '6 degrees' related.

WalMart REALLY sucks with those stupid displays. They never have the display pics in the plastic holders for half the shirts they have.
But they almost always have display pics of stuff they haven't carried in a long time and no longer have. If the Journey and DL shirts are new, they'll put the pic up next year when they stop carrying them.

I love WalMart. Business done the right way. Bringing the buying public the cheapest possible prices. Plus, it's a one-stop shop. I can go there rather than 6 separate places and still get everything I want. Unfortunately, the one that is closest to me is about 90% black and they have a tendency to enjoy knocking shit over and not picking it up. You need to steer your shopping cart as if you're playing a fucking video game. There's shit in every aisle. I usually go early on Saturday or Sunday morning. Place is empty and the merchandise is still stacked rather than in th aisles.

I hate Wal-Mart because it has become almost necessary to do my shopping there. Because of that all-in-one-place factor and the prices. My Dad's worked his way up from a grocery store meat cutter to a top level executive at one of the major distribution centers in the country, and most of his clients are small-chain businesses who usually go under when Wal-Mart comes to town. On that note, their meat is never fresh, and its injected with all kinds of bullshit to make you think it looks like a good cut. ...I guess, being from a small town I hate Wal-Mart most of all because of how they ruin the character and make-up of an area when they invade. They tore down a beautiful century old estate home and cherry plantation in my hometown.

They're big, REALLY big. ...And they're changing the make-up of the country. Granted, the jobs they bring to town and the way it helps the economy is great. But there's a trickle down effect that causes taxes to increase, causing family farms to have to sell out their land because they can't afford it anymore and there's no market for their produce or meat because everyone goes to Wal-Mart anyway.

I guess its just a necessary evil. Getting my milk and bread in the same place that I can get my interior latex paint and get my oil changed and a DVD too... GOOD. All the other stuff... BAD.

Yeah, I've never stepped foot in one of these WalMarts before, but I've heard lots of good and bad about them. I do see where a WalMart will change the makeup of the area that one goes up in for sure. By the way Rick, did they ever get that railroad through Rockridge? I seemed to have missed that part.
