He was the absolute best player in the game last year, until he ripped his knee. How do you know if Tebow doesn't rip his knee? God forbid I would never hope that, as I lkie him a lot, but dude, either suck him off already or back off. Jesus Christ!

Yes, Dixon was the best player in college fb. They were 8-1 when he went down. They lost 3 in a row and weren't even competitive, whereas if he plays, they are in the BCS Championship game, easily.

He is a great person who dedicated his life to Christ and rund a ministry in New Orleans where they give "life" to folks who are bound for the streets. He is more of a man than anyone on this board, including me. So he didnt pan out in the NFL, big deal! He had a bigger mission.

Oh stop with the intrusion of the religious card. You were saying how great they were on the football field. I could care less if he gives his life to God or not. We are talking football dude, not religion. Fuck, stop spinning and accept the fact that the Heisman means nothing. Good for Danny boy. Fuck, I hate religion. Look at the stupid fuckin republicans; fighting over...religion. Embarrassing.

It's great to have pride in your school, but, the Heisman trophy couldn't be less relevant. It is the MOST irrlevant trophy, in ANY sport! Just in the past 20 years, the following stiffs have won the Heisman:
Ty Detmer
Desmond Howard
Gino Torretta
Charlie Ward
Rashaan Salaam
Danny Wuerffel
Ron Dayne
Chris Weinke
Eric Crouch
Jason White
Troy Smith
While the jury is certainly still out on Troy Smith...that is a DREADFUL list! Not a single one of those guys were remotely significant, in the NFL. Yes, I know Howard won a Super Bowl, with the Packers, but he was a special teams player, and really wasn't a major factor, at any point of his NFL career! My point is...by all means...love your school! Just don't hold the Heisman out as evidence that it means, ANYTHING AT ALL, because it's a meaningless award! In fact, given the recent history of Heisman winners, in the NFL, I'd rather not win the thing!

Dean...
It's the south...they can NEVER not talk religion! Hell, it's the only part of the country I've ever been that has Jesus references on fast food signs, so-called churches in strip malls, and Jesus license plates plastered all over the wall at the DMV! The last time I saw that many religious fanatics is when I worked behind the walls at a state prison...convicts are as religious as southerners!

I've been watching football for over 30 years, so you can save your lessons on the premise of the Heisman Trophy! My point is that if "the best college player" isn't even good enough to be a backup in the NFL (which in many cases, is exactly what happens), it's a meaningless award! If a guy isn't even good enough to make it to the NFL, NOBODY will ever convince me that he was "the best college player", in spite of what The Downtown Athletic Club wants everyone to believe!
As far as your obscenity-laced tirade directed at me over Danny Wuerffel...I don't even know where that came from. I didn't say a single word about the guy, other than the fact that he was one, of MANY who won the Heisman, who did NOTHING in the NFL! Stop acting like I said the guy kills puppies! If he's a productive member of society, doing good things in the world, I say good for him! It still doesn't change the fact that he sucked as an NFL player!

ScarabGator wrote:Bro, my last reply to you had nothing to do with the Heisman trophy, it was you calling me out as a "Bible belt, prayer-thumping" hick from the south. I am not a religious person but I will say again, I have my beliefs. Now, I havent pushed them on anyone. I defended a young man that means a lot to me, thats all. If all of this labels me as a religious redneck then thats your call. I grew up in Miami, Fl and have never been called a redneck before. But I have a lot of southern-good ole boy friends that I love like brothers and I tend to wanna defend that sometimes.

No problem dude...
Just lighten up a little. For the record, I never called you out as a "Bible belt, prayer-thumping hick from the south", so I'm not sure where that's even coming from, but I'm sure if you read my comments, you'll see I said no such thing, and that any religious references I made were directed toward the south, and weren't directed toward you, AT ALL! In fact, I challenge you to find even one of those words that I said!
My point wasn't even directed at you...It was directed at Dean. When Dean said to "Leave religion out of it", I was reminding him that is probably not happening in the south! I also made the point that of all the places I've ever been, I'd never seen Jesus references on fast food marquees or Jesus license plates at the state DMV (Charlotte, North Carolina, to be exact)! I'm sure anyone who has travelled across the country has also probably noticed this anomaly, in the south, as well!
It's not a big deal, really. It's just a style difference. When you go to the barber shop for a haircut in Boston, Playboy Magazine is prominently displayed. If you get your haircut in the south, The Holy Bible is prominently displayed. One isn't better than the other (well, one is definitely better than the other, in my world)...It's simply a matter of culture, my friend!

Perhaps a tattered Vogue or GQ...but no bibles. However, Playboy would be very excellent reading material while I'm waiting for my cut and style...
