Journey aren't in the HOF yet, so don't hold your breath on BA.

BA's biggest hit came from a movie too.

No one who knows anything about singing would ever rank BA ahead of Jimi Jamison. Jamison is right there with Perry at the top of the list. And Dave Bickler's a damn great Rock singer as well. If your talking about a ballad then maybe BA could do as well as Bickler, but Bickler's way more of a Rocker.

I was trashed when I wrote that. However, there is no way that Survivor is better than BA. One Night Love Affair, Run To You, Heaven, Somebody and Summer of 69 are pretty much better than Survivor's entire body of work. And I too, think Jimi Jamison is great. Bickler sucked and had one good song with them so quit tooting his horn. Jamison made that band a powerhouse name. Prior to him they were merely one hit wonders.

I guess it just boils down to variances in musical taste. Everyone has the right to like who they like. I get fucked with at work regularly for liking Journey for crying out loud. Fuck them, I'm going to shove Journey down their throats every chance I get! :D

Your ass should be bounced out of Chicago for saying that.

Survivor's damn near as good as Journey (if a little more underpublicized due their idle leader/guitarist).

I like Survivor a LOT, dude. It's just that "Reckless" alone yielded more hits and memorable songs than Survivor's entire body of work. Get Jamison's sack off your chin and you could probably make a more informed, impartial decision.   :P

Survivor's hit songs...

Eye Of The Tiger #1 on the Billboard chart for 8 weeks in a row. One of the biggest selling and most historical Rock songs ever.
Burning Heart #2 for I think 4 weeks straight on the Billboard chart.
The Search Is Over #4 on the Billboard chart
High On You #8 on the Billboard chart.
Is This Love #9 on the Billboard chart
I Can't Hold Back # 13 on the Billboard chart
American Heartbeat #17 on the Billboard chart.
Poor Man's Son #33 on the Billboard chart

Other Survivor songs that charted...
Somwhere In America
Summer Nights
The One That Really Matters
Caught In The Game
The Moment Of Truth
First Night
How Much Love
Man Against The World
Didn't Know It Was Love
Across The Miles

Caught in the Game was a Bickler album and one of Survivor's best. Looks like all the action happens here it seems. I posted Harem Scarem's Rain video in that forum if anyone is a fan.

BA has had a number of good songs over the years. I don't have anything against him. I really do enjoy some of his songs. But he's not in Survivor's league as being near the very top of Melodic Rock music.

Stack Survivor's catalogue against Journey's and I PERSONALLY think there are less fillers in the Survivor albums than there are with Journey's catalogue.
And you know what - I prefer Survivor's ballads over Journey's :)

There ya go!!

Agreed!

And "The search Is Over" tops even "Open Arms" and "Faithfully" as an all time great ballad.

I'm not as into ballads as much as harder Rocking music, but "The Search Is Over" is the perfect Rock ballad of all time.

Since we have to ask now...maybe you should contact Drew and explain that you screwed up on your screen name and would like to change the placement..."Dear Andrew, I would like to have your permission to change my screen name. Now that I think about it I was a knucklehead and should have put Survivor before Journey...I want to be real with where I'm comin' from man, and represent..yo!".

Mickey Curry's a damn good drummer. Hell, that's who Survivor got to play on their Too Hot To Sleep album after Droubay left Survivor. But I never thought that Curry quite had the same ballsy sound on the album that Droubay provides.

There are only a very small handfull of guitarists who play with as much or more feeling as Frankie Sullivan, Neal Schon being one of them. But Frankie's as great of a riff guitarist as there is.

Page
Blackmore
Clapton
You name them
Frankie sullivan's right there with any of them for riffs and rhythm guitar playing.

You'll have a problem with me when I tell you that Sullivan is several notches below Blackmore, Page, and Clapton. ;)

Seriously dude, that's a bit crazy. I can name lots of guitarists superior to Sullivan. BUT THEN AGAIN....

I remember Bryan Adams opened for Journey on the '83 tour. Reunion Arena was fucking packed! He came out and started playing, and I guess the crowd was there to see Journey, so they were just mildly into Bryan. About the 3rd song BA gets up to the mic and screams "What the fuck is wrong with you Dallas? Lets rock!" And the place went nuts! He was excellent on that show. He was climbing all over the railings and going up into the audience and running around. Fucking crazy. The crowd sure loved it. What a great concert that was. Journey was on fire that night. The only gripe I had was that Journey were playing everything at hyperspeed. Outside of that, it was an excellent concert.

I said we're all winners here :D

I don't have any problem with you! :)

You'll have a problem with me when I tell you that Sullivan is several notches below Blackmore, Page, and Clapton. ;)

Seriously dude, that's a bit crazy. I can name lots of guitarists superior to Sullivan. BUT THEN AGAIN....

....I can name plenty that Sullivan is better than, easy. 8)

Well, remember I said that Sullivan is right there with those guys for riffs and rhythm, which he is. But I didn't say all around. Hey, my older brother is the biggest Deep Purple/Ritchie Blackmore fan there is, I grew up hearing everything that Purple and Rainbow ever recorded about a million times each. I love Led Zep and Clapton too. Frankie Sullivan is one of the most underrated Rock guitarists ever.
