With just a flick of his left pinky (using only the distal Phalange), I would walk on hot coals for Geoff Tate. But I'm afraid his power isn't quite strong enough to make me vote for Hillary Clinton.

Distal phalange? Now how would you know to use that phrase? Are you a nurse? :)

Oh :P ! JSS does that all the time, and looks a hell of a lot better doing it!

Not that I've ever seen Geoff Tate do it....

Trust me...Geoff looks damn good doing it. :D

LOL -- It was written on my discharge notes after going to the E.R. to find out what I had stuck up my butt!

I have half their talent (at best), but I have never smoked a single cigarette. If I had, I'd be even further behind the curve.

I think it's so wrong when a person with a gorgeous one of kind voice smokes like a chimney. I know it's an addictive habit, but give your voice and all the underlings that can only yearn to be half as good some respect.

Completely agree.... I've never understood it. I'd never heard that Geoff Tate smokes, though. I'd have to see proof to believe it.

I saw it in one of the Queensryche videos I own. Can't remember which but I was definitely surprised.

"Operation: Mindcrime" is the masterpiece, in my opinion but I do agree that "Empire" is much better than given credit for by many QR fans.

I'm embarrased, I know I've heard songs off Operation Mindcrime, but not the whole thing.

My Queensryche trinity of albums are Rage For Order, Operation Mindcrime, and Empire -- all others have paled in comparison to those three...

I bought it several years ago and listened to it once and, embarrassingly, it just sat on my shelf for a couple of years without nary a listen. It just didn't catch me at first. Then I picked it up again and almost couldn't stop listening to it. Every song on that album is a masterpiece, not counting perhaps the shorter tracks, which are really just lead-ins to the other tracks to keep the story behind the concept going. Tate's vocals were still at their apex, too, though he still sounded great on "Empire".

RFO had to grow on me as well. I still can't stand "Gonna Get Close to You". I can't tell you how much I hate it and consider it to easily be their worst song ever. The rest of the album is great, though.

I will say that the guys in the band certainly did look ridiculous during that era, especially Tate. His hair was terrible.

I'd put them in this order...

1 - Operation: Mindcrime
2 - Empire
3 - Queensryche
4 - Rage for Order
5 - The Warning
6 - Promised Land
7 - Operation: Mindcrime 2
8 - Tribe
9 - Hear in the Now Frontier
10 - Q2K

"Operation: Livecrime" is one of the best live albums I own as well.

I didn't think it was possible to smoke and maintain a voice like that...does he still sound really good today?

His voice has been pretty consistent over the last 10-15 years or so. He may have quit smoking since then. Who knows.

That's good to hear - I should buy one of their new DVDs one of these days. They've been really good about releasing a lot of live shows.

Dang...I really want to see Queensryche now...and Dokken as well. I'm suffering from concert withdrawals I guess.

OK...Now that I think about it, I heard it in the interviews on the "Operation: Livecrime" DVD. He's talking about the story behind the writing and recording of the album and about how he went out late one night to get some "smokes" from a store down the street. I remember hearing he smoked somewhere else also.

"Rage" was my first Queensryche album, which I purchased after hearing my first Queensryche song, "Take Hold Of The Flame", not long before on MTV. That song of course was actually on "The Warning", which I didn't get until much later. But "Rage" simply blew me away... They just don't write stuff that cool anymore, but boy did they do it justice at the show the other night...

Rage For Order has always been my favorite. It just has a different kind of sound to it, even in the 80s no bands can compare to it. I remember watching them on MTV Unplugged.. I think I have that recorded on VHS somewhere still.

Hey, can I come too? Chances are if we all apply for meet-n-greet passes, we'll land enough to cover all 3 of us. BTW, if you also apply for soundcheck passes, does it hurt the chances of also getting a meet-n-greet pass?

Also, I got my Queensryche fan club kit yesterday -- that was fast! I'm going to hang my signed picture in my music room.

Of course.. More than likely if you put in for both, you would get one or the other. They claim it's a lottery type system. This is the first time I've got passes and I've tried 3 other times.

That was quick!
