I direct you to the Reagan-Mondale debates where both candidates displayed humor and good natures regardless of their political differences.

If I was a Republican I would probably be offended by that comment. Since I am a Libertarian I will let it slide.

You are NOT a libertarian. You are a neo-conservative Republican.

I guess you're fucked then, cause I hate to tell ya, but BULLSHIT happens on both sides of the aisle.

Why don't you suggest that to your party? I'd love to see the public response.

You do know that many parts of that movie have been disproven, right? You do know that some of the footage he used was actually from the movie "Day After Tomorrow". ya, that's a rock solid documentary there.

You can pretty much write off people who use that movie to prove any point....7 Wishes is weak on issues, and he knows it.

Of course it does. But, what I have seen and heard from the Republicans is far more hypocritical and wrong than what I have seen so far from the Democrats.

Actually, I'm extremely STRONG on issues...it's just that I'm willing to stand up to you neo-conservative troglodytes. I'll give you an example...Limbaugh is full of shit and lies his fat ass off. George Will, on the other hand, is extremely intelligent - his points are usually quite persuasive because they are FACTUAL.

OK...I'll give you the benefit. But lets start by agreeing that movie has too much BS to take serious. I also realize you have a different and greater pespective than I, but sometimes your slamming (albeit funny) makes it seem like you don't want to discuss stuff.

I don't have a greater perspective than anyone - and the strange thing is, I still REALLY like McCain and he still could get my vote. What gets me so up in arms is the sub-culture of the blogosphere, which perpetuates a lot of the lies and misunderstandings that make politics so divisive.

In defense of the Democrats - and this may be more an indication of their stupidity and inability to learn from previous election-year debacles - is that they heaped praised upon McCain, whereas except for one day (when the McCain ad came out), the right has been out for blood and hasn't exactly reciprocated the good sentiments. But the Democrats have been trying to win the goodwill game since Carter, and it hasn't exactly worked out (if McCain wins, as I believe he will, the Donkeys will be batting .250 since 1980).

Yep, she saw a giant sign that said HOCKEY MOMS etc on it. Its clearly visible in the clips. She read it, laughed and told the joke.

Obie may've been trying to ride the popularity of the joke but it came out completely wrong. The buzz is very bad for him. He should've been taking the high road on everything. This took him to a low place and a lot of his followers will leave him there.

It was tactically stupid, but it's a joke that's been around for 100 years. So, yes, he should have been taking the high road. But no, "a lot" of his "followers" will not "leave him there".

What Obama has to worry about is "a lot" of "independents" who "have already left him".

Voters are paying attention now. Comments that would've gotten a free pass (or been ignored) six months ago now aren't.

The other difference: voters like Palin. They see her as someone who could be their neighbor. Obama had that chance but never closed the sale. If he keeps up the un-funny insults and sounds more and more negative, Obama increasingly will be seen as someone who's an outsider -- and voters will treat him accordingly.

If his campaign flounders and stumbles on and on, voters will start to see a big red "L" on his head for Loser. The final step will be for local Democrats in a number of areas to disassociate themselves from him and his campaign (just like they did Mondale and Dukakis).

Most of those women were conservative voters before Hillary came along. They were going to vote Republican, for the most part.

But women are smarter then men - and they know when they're being played. Geraldine Ferraro was MUCH MORE qualified than Palin, but she and Mondale only took Minnesota. Most women's views are not consistent with Palin's. And the fact that she is a creationist is downright scary. To think that she believes the world is only 6,100 years old, and that dinosaur bones are part of a massive hoax-conspiracy on the part of the scientific community...wow. THAT'S what we need in the White House. Ouch.

Would it be bad if McCain had said that in inference to Ms. Clinton?

McCain did use the term for Hillary's Health Care plan. Don't know what transpired from that remark. Lipstick on pig analogy has been around I think longer than Palin has been alive. 8)

eventhough those statements made by Obama were intended to be jokes, those were really unnecessary and could really cost him a lot of votes. what the democrats must realize here is that sort of attack against Palin, is an attack towards women, majority speaking. women are also sensitive, eventhough they are intelligent. Obama and his camp should had thought of that.

even the smear job towards Palin makes them democrats look silly already. wasting time trying to throw mud on a VP candidate rather than sticking to the "YES WE CAN" theme. the public will see this as an act of desperation or weakness. surely the public doesn't want a weak person in the white house.

the democrats are reacting unnecessarily here and the republicans aren't even setting a trap. well, maybe Palin became the trap in this campaign.

Absolutely. The agent of "change" is coming off sexist.

McCain used this same description for one of Hilary's proposals. Difference is she hadn't made a popular joke the week before using the word "lipstick". That's why there was laughter at the joke. Everyone knew he was referring to Palin. Makes him look petty and insensitive.

Even if we equate the McCain and Obie's jokes as equal, isn't Obama supposed to be BETTER than McCain?

So now lipstick becomes a bad word. Be careful if one ever uses it again.

Obama also continued with his views focusing more on IMPORTANT issues, but we all like to focus on things that aren't.

Now lets cool off with this song:
