Hi CDL, good tunes! We need a favorite playlists thread. To fave 20 or 30 tracks with no more than 5 Journey allowed.

Again...your right, but I think you've blasted Jon pretty good and might wanna apologize for that. Seriously, what has he ever done to YOU?

Why apologize? Celebrities get made fun of all the time and they never did anything to that person. Look at Perez Hilton's blog and you'll see. Just because Journey has a less anonymous fanbase (which is their own fault) they might happen to see such things... they should get over it if they're not already.

I know some people (not necessarily you guys) are convinced they are really friends with the band members, I don't think they view it as the same relationship at all. We will always be fans to them, just some fans get more privileges which is deceiving. So you're not going to make them cry over teasing online.

For making fun of them on the Internet? Shouting "Friga" at concerts? Surely you can't be runing their lives with that.

And if you're referring to Tapegate, ok, but they appear to be past that so I'd say just drop it...

Once in 1998 at a meet and greet that Deen gave me 4 passes to, on the street in downtown Milwaukee and Friday night, and I have to say that he was very pleasant all 3 times (except a minor Perry comment in 1998 that at the time pissed me off...former Loon here  ). He was genuinely happy to be mingling with fans Friday night...no way he was faking it. Hell, it was Arnel's personal meet and greet...he didn't have to be there. At this point, you're probably past the point of no return with him, though.

I have paid for every single concert I have ever gone to, including 8 this year. I have never received a free ticket in my life. In 1998, Deen Castronovo gave us better seats than we had purchased so I gave the 3 tickets we had away to people in line to purchase tickets for the show. Tito was pissed. "We could have gotten at least $150 for those tickets!!!" I think my response was a burp.

When I picked up my tickets where I was told at the band/press line, we had three tickets we had bought prior to finding out we were given a gift of the better tickets and backstage passes. When I got my tickets we saw a family of three, a mom, dad and son. The show was sold out by that time. We walked over and gave them our tickets we had bought for the show. The boy was so thrilled! As I said, someone did me an unexpected kindness. We tried to do the same. I think you should pass on such things. Saint John you did the right thing.

WOW. Got in on this thread a little late.........

Being able to meet band members isn't rocket science.....sometimes things just all fall into place at the least expected or least anticipated times. Luck does play a big role.......so does knowing a lot of other Journey fans who share their passes or introduce you to those that have passes to give. In that case, yes, it is a case of "who you know". That does NOT mean it is a situation of "using" others..........when someone is offering something to you as a gesture of kindness, and you accept it, it doesn't make you a "user." I have been blessed to meet some WONDERFUL people from this forum as well as from other Journey sites. Enough said about that.

Mimi summed it up very well in her previous posts.......one of my favorite quotes of hers is: "The answer is always 'no' unless you ask." That is a very simple but very true statement. If there is something you really, really want to do, there is no shame in trying until you accomplish it. No worries.

And yes, Linda...........paying it forward will benefit you in the long run, somewhere down the line!!!

I got free tickets once but didn't know it  I just wanted a meet and greet so when I picked up the envelope, i just pasted it on my shirt. I found the free seats in the envelope about 3 weeks later when I was scrapbooking the pass. NOW you believe me when I say, over and over and over, ImADORK. I would have given them away!!! I had already purchased seats as well. And then the girl messed up the M&G and I almost missed it!!!

Ditto. I’ve always bought (at full price) tickets to all of the Journey shows I’ve ever been to, even when I’ve had a photo pass or, in the case of the recent UK shows, an AAA pass. When I had good seats and I was photographing the whole show I would let someone else come forward to use my seat, but it was still bought and paid for by me.

At seated venues I like to know where I’m going to be and to get good seats by getting them early. I’d prefer not to risk the chance of missing out on a ticket or of getting a poorly located seat (albeit free) by relying on the goodwill of fans, friends or band members.

Dear Barack,

They are not greedy. They tour because they are hard workers and judging by attendance there is a demand for them. Their singers have lasted 8 years each - pretty good especially for that type of catalog. They handled Jeff fine. He got a golden opportunity. Arnel will be fine.

Well said. I've started doing that and it works!!! 8)

In Dr. Steven Covey's book, '7 Habits of Highly Successful People', he teaches a similar practice called the 'emotional bank acct' (part of habit #3]). If all you do is make withdrawals (diss, berate, drama, etc) from everyone else, you'll soon find yourself all alone. However, if you make deposits (random acts of kindness, selfless giving, etc.) then you'll have plenty of friends around if you ever need to make a withdrawal. Interesting stuff...and common sense.
