What's your point?

My point is the republican don't have enough votes to block the bill if all the majority party votes for it.

So you cannot blame the republicans.

I'm not blaming anyone. I am against the bill. I just think it is pretty weak for the Republicans to use a speech as political cover, when there are PLENTY of legitimate reasons to vote nay.

Sure...Larry King...and not ALL were liberals...but MOST of them were I bet...The bill is nothing but a band-aid, and it is weak on oversite, and weak on helping the general population as opposed to the Wall Street fat cats.

I have heard all the party lines today...I have seen the outline of the bill...it's a piece of shit.

They can do better...passing THIS particular bill would have been worse than the disease.

Like Bush and Paulson, it appear they claim the bill is necessary.
Don't agree, but at least it doesn't require as much suspension of disbelief to think a speech can make all the difference between voting for financial doomsday.
If the Repubs think it's a bad bill they should man-up and say so, instead of using Pelosi as a convenient liberal whipping girl.

So maybe it wasn't just Pelosi...

I'm not saying it was Pelosi.
I'm saying every Republican paraded across my TV has cited Pelosi as the reason for their vote.
The bill sucks.
Discuss the bill!

Oh I agree the bill sucks. It doesn't nothing for the average tax payer but saddle us with more national debt, and it's effect will be dubious at best.

I haven't heard any Dems that voted against it.
Whatever their motivations, I am pretty sure it wasn't based on a few lines in a political speech given by a politician in the nation's capital.
There are MANY MANY good reasons to shoot this down - that's all I'm saying.

What??? The democrats could have passed it if all their members voted it. There are not enough republicans to stop it.

Don't bother.
If this bill is as vital as Bush says it is (which I doubt), the GOP might want to try and find a stronger leg to stand on beyond a few cross words.
That is all.

140 of 235 Democrats in the House voted for it, or 59.6%. 65 of 198 Republicans voted for it, or 32.8%.

My simple point is the bill is very bad.
If this bill is as vital as Bush says it is (which I doubt), the GOP might want to try and find a stronger leg to stand on beyond a few cross words.

So what?
Every Republican on TV tonight has used Pelosi as a way to explain their vote.
House Minority Leader Boner said as much during the press conference.
Rather then discussing the merits of their vote, or the inadequacy of the bill, they've pinned the blame on another phantom liberal boogeyman.

I tried calling around 11:30 and was not able to get in. I tried again at 12:15 and got through. The comments I have seen have said there was even more people calling in on this than during the immigration bill.

:::sigh:::

All Pelosi had to do was keep her big mouth shut, had she done so the bill would have passed regardless. I supposed then you would be here thrashing the republicans for passing it and toeing the party line in support of Bush?

Now you said discuss the bill earlier to me, so I tried, now you won't stop harping about the republicans crying about Pelosi, which is it?

As I already explained, I simply don't believe that.
And IF the GOP betrayed America's economic security for some tit-for-tat bullshit they don't belong in office.
More likely they needed political cover for a decision that redounds negatively on both current heads of their party - Bush and McCain.
To explain the bill's failings is to indirectly criticize Bush, and we simply can't have that now can we?

RossValoryRocks wrote:Now you said discuss the bill earlier to me, so I tried, now you won't stop harping about the republicans crying about Pelosi, which is it?

I wasn't directing you to personally address the bill.
I was discussing every GOPer that has been troted out on the news today.
