I've heard worse from artists singing in their prime. Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker, etc.

3 of the worst singers in history. But it ain't always about the power or tone of the voice. I'm a tone kinda guy though, hence my love for Lou and Steve etc...

kidding aside, I like Lou's tone better than Perry's. In Lou's prime his voice was multilayered. His patented Gramm scream/screech is a staple of rock. Even on slow songs he found places to throw that in.

It's better than the Fab Four IMHO.

Lou sounds a lot better than a couple of years ago but still doesn't sound like his former self.
