That's just criminal to say. Perry destroys Martin Short in every way. Neal is better than almost any guitarist, let alone Paul fucking Gilbert. Smitty could wipe his ass with Torpey. Fuck, anyone can. Sheehan is probably as good a bassist as Ross, but not enough a part of their "importance" to make any sort of difference in the absurd argument you've started. And Jon Cain is one of the best songwriters out there. Look at Mr. Big's lyrics. Some are downright embarrassing. Journey dwarfs these dopes in every facet of the game. From ballads to rockers, from singers to songwriters, from innovation to tour receipts and from studio to live.

Mr. Big was successful due to a window in rock where everyone sold records...they being concrete proof of that. Their music is a pile of dinosaur shit and they will never be relevant in the U.S. music scene again. Not with their back catalog at least. Eric Martin is a good singer and seems like a nice enough fellow, but the only people that seem to like that dopey band he was in are you and some mutant Japanese spawn of atomic bomb survivors.

I agree Perry's a better vocalist than Martin. Nobody tops Perry's vocals in my books. Although if you listen to some of EM's work outside of Mr Big he's got some great vocals and soul to spare. And as of right now, Mr Big is all original members again.....they didn't go out and get somebody that sounded just like Martin. :P

Wrong, PG is better than Neal. But saying that I do prefer Neal's playing as I don't really care about who is better technically, Neal is a more 'feeling' player.

I agree Smitty is better than Torpey. But Torpey is very good too.......heck Robert Plant used him as a drummer on one of his tours. Can't be that bad. Like Deen, Torpey's a good singer too, actually the whole band has killer harmonies together.

Not even close Dannyboy. Nothing against Ross, but to use your terminology, Sheehan could wipe his ass with Valory.

And sooooo are some of Journey's.

Point to Calgary Deb here. Not only does Sheehan kick ass, Ross is really not very good.

Whoa big fella. Easy. Jon Cain hasn't written a serious song that meant a damn, ever. Always cheesy lyrics and fluffy piano work. Granted, there are some classic pop songs, and those were almost all written with Perry. After Perry departed, Friga has gotten even more cheesy. Not saying that Friga sucks, but he sure as hell is not a household name when it comes to writing songs.

Journey dwarfs these dopes in every facet of the game. From ballads to rockers, from singers to songwriters, from innovation to tour receipts and from studio to live.

I would agree with you here, but Mr. Big never stooped to fucking over their fans with a taped live show did they? Hundreds of thousands of fans, spending their hard earned money, to see a taped live walk through.

Sorry Dan, but that stain is never coming off.

I wasn't around here for that chapter, and I don't know all about the situation. But what seems to bother me the most about this is out of all those fans attending those shows, I daresay more than a handful know or will ever know. Journey more or less got away with (musical) murder and never owned up to it, never offered to make it right. So yeah, I agree Dean, it's hard to make that stain go away when no body is even trying to wash it off. Instead it's tossed to the bottom of the pile as if it never happened.

Perhaps the majority of music fans don't know this, and that just proves how insignificant Journey is nowadays. However, the people who do know about this bullshit are Journey's peers, as well as music writers. It amazes me how so many fans who do know, look the other way as if it never happened.

Dean I was surprised. Some guys at work were discussing Journey, and the topic came up about Augeri, (they mispronounced his name horribly), and the one of the guys stated that "Awzhuree" he had to leave the band because his voice was shot, and he was caught lip syncing.

Well Rick, I am past putting this on Augeri. That guy paid for his mistake, but those other scumbags just keep rolling right along as if nothing happened. I am sure you didn't tell your co workers what great noble folks were in Journey.
